I used them intially for Harry. They are under written by E&L, who don't have a particularly good reputation but I think they're working on it.
I didn't claim but my experience cancelling with them means I would never use them again. I emailed to cancel my policy, asking for confirmation by email. I received no word for a week, so phoned them just to find the insurance was cancelled the day I sent the email and they had sent me a letter to confirm.
The letter turned up 2 weeks later, so if I hadn't checked, he would have been uninsured for 3 weeks and I would have been none the wiser.
They seem very reasonable can insurance both of mine for the same price as 1 of them with all the other insurancers. I thought 25 quid a month for death, theft or straying along with up to 3000 for vets fees was pretty damn good for 2 horses!
A girl on my yard is with them and they paid up for the horses op and they'd only been insured for a week!!
it does seem to vary on a case by case basis.
A friend of a friend had to get her brother (a top european human rights lawyer) involved in order to get them to pay up after an 18 month struggle. they tried every trick in the book to avoid paying up.
Admin side is poor. I cancelled a policy via email to the correct department. I also cancelled my direct debit with bank just to be sure. Got a letter many weeks later saying couldnt claim payment so I forwarded email again and they cancelled policy.
Also very OTT if you say have ever had a vet fee claim. im not insured for vet fees but they insited on blood test results etc for a claim many years back. Eventually spoke to someone with some common sense and they said it was not needed.
Yep i'm insured with them, have had absolutely no problems at all and have had quite a big claim last year which was paid out within a fortnight, in fact I had less hassle getting paid out by them than I did by Scottish Equestrian the year before who faffed about and held things up for about 6/7 weeks.
Hi, mainly for budgetary reasons, I have my 3 horses & 4 dogs insured with these, have claimed for vets fees twice for 1 horse & 1 dog, without problems - although some say they can take a long time to pay, I didn't think they were too bad.
Hi,
Mines insured with them but yes they are part of E and L. Paid out on a big and long claim last year but did take a while to approve the claim but once that was done the cheques were sent really quick.
I still choose to stay with them depsite the bad rep because they offer lots of bits and pieces such as loss of use, £1000 towards alternative therapy etc and you can pick and choose what you want. And of course they are cheap!
Yes have two horses insured with them, 2 days into her policy my tb mare was kicked in the field and had to have op 3 weeks later to remove a bone chip after the wound wouldnt heal and xrays and ultrasound picked up the lose bit of bone.
They paid out in full, not exactly speedy but no problems with them.
Friend was insured with them. When her horse injured its leg, it took literally MONTHS to get them to pay up.
Barge and pole for me im afraid. You get what you pay for.
