Ok, apologies in advance if this gets long and complicated, there's just a lot to explain.

So last night I was on one of the horsey Facebook groups when up pops a warning from someone about an unscrupulous seller who had told her the horse was exactly what she was looking for and would be the perfect project for breeding and re-breaking. All seemed well until she tried to organise to view said horse and then was told good luck trying to get it out of the field as it rears, bucks, bronks etc. and is so dangerous it apparently put seller in hospital!

It's now transpired that this horse and another have been passed on as companions with separation issues and that the horse that's advertised for sale cannot be ridden as it has a severe back injury.

The trouble is the seller is my step-dads nephew! I've never had anything to do with him as he's known to lie and steal and generally is involved in things I'd rather not be a part of, but now I'm concerned for both these horses welfare (he is honestly clueless about horses, add to that the fact he has 3 kids and no job!) and also the potential for someone to be injured or at worst killed whilst trying to re-back a horse that should never be ridden.

I'm at a loss as to what to do here. OH thinks I should stay out of it as this guy has always given us both a bad feeling and has asperges syndrome which has shown him to be prone to some incredibly violent outbursts (which we obviously don't want to be on the receiving end of!) but at the same time I hate to think of these horses unnecessarily suffering or someone getting hurt because of his lies :(

I saw that post too, it ended up getting pretty nasty! I didn't comment but was v.concerned when the lady who knew the horse said it can never be ridden due to back problems etc and he is still advertising it for a project needing rebacking :(

not sure if all the comments were true, but one person said he used to wait outside her house and ring her phone 100 times a day? all seem's a bit of a mess really I hope someone experienced takes on the poor horse!

i am confused

when she went to view the horse she was told it was 'nuts' so did she still buy it?

sounds like the dealer was being honest

from what I gather by the post, this guy was advertising this horse for loan or share, £30pw, but needs re backing. The women messaged him asking if the horse has any vices etc and he said no.
I think she asked if she could come see the horse but could he leave it in the field so she could go catch it, to which he said good luck with that she rears and is dangerous. (not sure is this is 100% correct/true but what I got from the post).

Anyway, this women posted on fb warning people of him, as he was still advertising this horse for share/rebacking. a women (who i guess used to own the horse, or knew the horse previously?) commented saying how the horse cannot be ridden, was sold as companion only, has bad back problems etc etc

I don't see what you could do unfortunately. Unless you know someone looking a companion that could buy it or if it is in alot of pain, buy it and PTS.
