Re those driving without insurance: what if you are stopped by the police and asked for your insurance details, even just as a random check, or for a faulty break light? I'm pretty sure that would be a court appearance, points on your licence, a fine of several hundred pounds, and all the subsequent fallout...
I have been treating with ice, voltarol gel and a good support bandage and then quite firm stable bandaging on top when I muck out, and each day it has felt better and better and considering its only 72 hours since the accident it has improved so dramatically I feel certain it is not broken. Now I hardly need to use a bandage at tall and I have almost full movement in it so I think I am going to be allright. I've stopped the voltarol too.
Thank you for all your lovely caring comments and advice. I do appreciate your help xx
I'd like to clarify a few points with regard to my broken finger and some of the comments I have had aimed at me such as 'uninsured drivers' and 'people like you'.........
I am not an 'uninsured driver' and never have been in all my 30 years of motoring. The Dr at the hospital said to me about not being insured because I had an injury (a slight one at that) and I guess that's what they tell all people who have damaged or hurt themselves in some way, not to drive. That injury could be a broken finger as in my case, which DID NOT AFFECT my driving ability or a sprain or twist, backache, frozen shoulder or many other ailments/illnesses/injury. How about having a splitting headache and still driving, when you can't concentrate properly?? How many of you lot, taking into account we're all around horses, has had a broken toe or suspected broken toe but decided to still drive????
And I don't know for sure that I WASN'T insured, this is just what the Dr told me. If I had contacted the insurance company I'm guessing they would have confirmed it, but do not know for sure my policy was invalidated. Again, where do you draw the line? A finger is a 'digit' not a 'limb' and a broken digit is usually far less serious and less inhibitating that a broken limb. Example again, a toe is also a 'digit'.
So thank you for all the people who have jumped on me with the "what if this" and "what if that" scenarios but they are all entirely hypothetical. My horse is on DIY 25 miles away from where I live and relies on me, I am not going to sit at home for 6 weeks holding my finger pathetically and not go to see her when I can, perfectly safely.
Next time everyone who has slated me drives, try holding your steering wheel with thumb, forefinger and middle finger and you will all see it is perfectly do-able and does not affect your ability to drive a car safely.
