My horse gets extremely worked up (ie vertical rearing on the yard, cow kicking when going near back legs etc) before I box up to go competing. On this alone, I'm reluctant to box up and compete, however... Once we're at the competition, there's no problems. She's a keen jumper and 99% of the time jumps without a problem, mostly coming home with a rossie or two in an outing. And will happily stand at the side of the wagon tied up (or just stood loose!) munching on hay. She's easy to tack up once she's off the box, and appears to enjoy it. So from that point alone, I have no problems, I know she enjoys it as she can be very stroppy and thinks nothing of refusing fences/bucking/rearing if unhappy.

So wwyd? Continue to compete and just put up with her tantrums or not? I'm not sure she's likely to change now, as she's 15 this year (but as an 8yo was still very much like a youngster in her head and education).
