WWYD re incontinence/failing back end?

When the combined efforts of three of us couldn't keep our old GSD clean we decided it was time. She was 13, was a rescued dog with hip displasia and had actually had one hip replaced when she was 2 which gave her a good quality of life for years. In the end her back end just didn't seem to belong to her any more. Heartbreaking decision as she was still a happy soul, but we just couldn't do any more for her.

We made the desision to euthanase my Mum's dog when he became distressed at the fact that he was soiling where he was sleeping. Previously he would try to get up and make it to the door and we didnt make a fuss about this but he got more and more upset by it, then started to soil whilst asleep or getting up then he would panick and look bewildered, so we knew enough was enough.
