WWYD - Unhappy with vet service

I’m so sorry. What a lovely girl.

I’m bemused by those who think it wasn’t up to the vets to suggest following this up - what poor service you must be used to 😳.

My vets were absolutely mustard when my late homebred went down with suspected lami. First young vet padded up her feet, approved of the very thick shavings bed and gave pain relief, then my usual vet came out days later to x Ray her feet to check for rotation. It wasn’t lami in the end, but it was treated very seriously as if it was.

I wasn’t left muddling along on alone, I was given a very clear pathway of expectations after the first visit.
Exactly. When Dave had colic & was so poorly, I had the vets give clear expectation of next steps & what to do. They were wonderful.

My vets would give advice and say, ‘Book me in to come back in x days/weeks.’ They might try to call once or twice to arrange that after an emergency but overall it’s up to me to book follow-up visits.

When our Shetland had laminitis we had regular visits and x-rays (every two weeks to start with) to keep an eye on progress and lameness. X-rays were sent to me and passed on to my farrier each time also so he could help with the tiny bit of rotation we had. Not much they could have done over the phone - they needed to see her.
