Wwyd - vets assessment of riding

I would get another opinion. My vet said there was nothing wrong with my horse and there very clearly was, anyone else could see it and he was supposed to be the top vet in my area :/

how does the horse go if your instructor rides it?

your vet sounds like an a***, and I would change to a vet who does a proper work up to find an issue, in your shoes I possible would request a more advanced rider sees what tune thy can get out of the horse first though

i have never seen anyone else ride my horse - up until now I have not had the slightest issue with her in the school (She did spin a bit out hacking alone at first but has not done this now in 8 or so months). However I will get my instructor to have a sit on her I think and see what she thinks and how she goes for her. Shame she never rode her before because she won't know what she did feel like but she has given me both flatwork and jumping lessons and has probably seen the usual 'best and worst' of the horse.

Another line of enquiry you could take to find an experienced lameness vet would be to call your local referral hospital, as they would deal with a lot of vets within a large area.

Or you could try calling the ROR helpline as they have a great network of people UK wide who would be able to help you.

Good luck I do hope you find out what is causing it. I really wish they would get a horse size MRI and at least we would be able to see so much more!

My point is that the OP needs a DIAGNOSIS, which no one but a vet can make. They can then look at treatment options, which may or may not include a physio.

For example, if the horse has sacroiliac problems or similar, only a vet and x ray can diagnose this.
Physio may help ease the symptoms but will not address the root of the problem, so yes, I would consider anything other than a full work up at this point to be faffing.
That does not mean I'm writing off the physio as useless, but that the horse needs to have its problems diagnosed correctly before treatment, and fwiw I would expect any physio worth their fee to want a diagnosis from the vet before they begin work.

This is why I said that a joint work up is the way forward .
I did not suggest that OP only uses a physio .
