Regular poster but prefer to tell YO in person if i decide to move!

Been looking to move yards for a while but no where has had vacancies.

Went to view a yard other day but need some help, think i just need a kick up the a*se but moving seems so daunting :confused::( So which yard would you chose?? :o

Current yard- Good points;
Turnout whenever you want, can live out all year or in, have out own field and use how we like.
Nice arena although not maintained.
Okay hacking, mainly roads work but quiet.
Small yard so use of arena whenever really.

Bad points;
Only two stables for 3 horses so have to live out all year round.
Yard not maintained, i.e dog mess everywhere, litter from where he empties wheely bin into 'fire pit'.
Generally quiet a bitchy environment
Yard owner makes up silly rules as she goes i.e one minute can have shavings next you cant etc.
YO hibinates during winter so liveries have to run yard.
No one else competes, so cant go out XC schooling with anyone etc.

Other Yard- Good points;
Fab facilities (Horse walker, bigger arena, lunge ring, gallops, XC course)
Own american barn with one other livery (only me and her as liveries)
Own tack room
YO competes so has offered to help me and always happy to go out places.
More acerage so can rotate fields.
Off roads hacking
3 stables so all can have one

Bad points;
Tiny bit further to travel (although on main roads so works out about same time)
Not so flexible with turnout, i.e have to be in on a night in winter and bad weather (although this doesnt really bother me, i realise current yard turnout is rare)
YO has 25 of her own horses (Has hunters in most of the year for fitness work)but seems really flexible with arena etc.
In opsite direction than work so wont be able to bring in when on lates (only twice a week in spring/summer) but she did offer to do so if i couldnt make it down!

So which one would you chose?
Both have pluses and minuses! Any help much appreciated!

Taking what youve put there at face value, Id be off to yard 2. the silly rule thing would make me go, even without anything else being so good !! :D

As long as the cost isnt too different, and she does what you need her to do with regards to helping you out on your late days (which might not be much of an issue anyway if you only do lates in spring and summer) , I cant really see a good reason to stay (unless your horses might not move well,but as you havent mentioned that Im guessing they are fine) it doesnt sound like you are very happy at yard 1?

2 however sounds wonderful :)

From a practical point of view, will you use the extras (the walker/xc course etc) enough to justify them being a plus?

bearing in mind you want to compete etc, second yard is more suited to your requirements :) that's the one I would go for :) sounds lovely tbf!

If all true then second yard sounds better. However YOs tend to offer a lot of help to get you in the door and then aren't as keen to take you competing or bring your horse in, when you are actually there... so perhaps review the 'maybes' and ensure you are happy if they don't happen.

yard two.

The only not so good is the in at night in winter. but as long as they still get good turnout in the day then my horse prefers to come in any way.
one yard I looked at only offered an hour a day in winter. :-(
Not acceptable to me

The occasional help should be easily sorted.

Okay thanks alot! :o

Think I just needed reassurance as its very daunting thinking about moving yards!

Will ring her tomorrow and confirm! Then hand my notice in!

Thanks! :D:D

Yard 2 does sound much better but just from experience if you are used to having 3 out 24/7, to bring them in requires a much greater cost and time commitment (as I am sure you will well know)! Also ditto the rules constantly changing would drive me crazy. I work with horses and have 3 as well, when they are out in summer it takes me 10 minutes a day, when they come in it takes me an hour and costs me an arm and a leg in bedding, rugs, feed ect! But no for what you want to do yard 2 does sound better equipped.
