Horse isn't 100% but intermittant. One day can take her out a 10 mile hack and she's striding out, bouncing and really forward. The next day, she's out for 2 minutes and her stride is choppy, unwilling and stumbling. It actually feels like her knee collapses and then she rights herself.
A couple of times now, over 60cm jumps she has landed and fallen on her knees. Once on grass and once on an all weather arena.

She's barefoot, out 24/7, not insured.

Had the vet out yesterday and he watched her walk around and commented on her left knee. It appears she is not bending it and moving the shoulder instead.

I'm going to get quotes from them anyway but, vet advised that they would need xrays to see what's happening. He also advised that there may not be anything they can do. (I appreciate his honesty).

I don't know whether to go for the xrays, whether to put poles down and work her inhand over poles to get her moving, or to leave her for 6 months and see if she sorts herself? WWYD?

i would xray, depending on whats going on pole work could make her more uncomfortable, it may be something that will never come right and your option may be to bute her and only light work with her. i would not jump her again

Thanks :) Bute makes no difference to her either (forgot to mention that).
I think its most likely I'll get xrays done and she won't be worked until that point.
Yeah, unless its something we can visibly see and sort, it looks like she won't be jumping :(

X-ray. They cost about £120 for I think 4 plates. Not too expensive and will help you decide if you should be riding/resting or if there is anything else you could do to help her.
Good luck x

I was told around £160 to X-ray all 4 hooves and a sedative if I could get her to them so shouldn't work out too expensive if you have transport :)

i would go for the x-rays and then you will know what is going on or what isn't going on!

they can vary from one area/practice to another but from what i've seen they are anywhere between £70 and £180. ask your vet for a guide price (dependant on how many he would take).

The falling you describe after jumping isn't that common. Xrays and go from there, at least you might find out exactly what you are dealing with! GL.

Xrays are booked in for Friday. Concerned but want to get to the bottom if it, if I can.
Does anyone know how long it takes for them to do xrays? Do I stay with her?
My dads taking her to vets for me. I don't want to phone and prayer vets with questions.

As my vet said "It's not like the NHS you get instant results".
We were able to view x rays instantly on the vets laptop. If you take a memory stick they may download them for you.
