Long story short I am in the process of finding a new job as my temp contract is running out soon, and I really don't have time for both the boys at the moment.

I contacted the pony I have on loans owner about 4 weeks ago and told her that I don't have the time/money for both at the moment as I am about to lose my job and would she have him back. Her reply was that she doesn't have time to come and get him as she insists she be there rather than letting her parents come and collect him.

I offered to be on hand to load him and even go back with them as her parents are a bit novicey, but she said no to this.

I don't have transport of my own so this isn't an option.

Owner is a nightmare to get hold of, have rang and left FB messages maybe 8 times which I can see she has read but doesn't reply to.

How would you handle this?

If I wanted to return a horse I had on loan, I would expect to make the arrangements, and if that means hiring transport then so be it.

If you can't wait for her, then send her a recorded letter giving her a set period of notice that your happy with advising her you will be returning him to her.

I appreciate it will cost to get transport but might end up cheaper in the long run if she takes month to collect him.

I would give her a few days to come back to your calls etc as she could be busy with something else.

Seems to me like its a round about way of saying she doesn't want him back. What is in your loan contract about transport and notice? I would give notice that you're ending the loan arrangement as from such-and-such a date and will expect pony collected by such-and-such time on that date. Or hire a box and driver, then notify her that he'll be delivered at a certain time on that date.

Return the pony yourself giving plenty of notice on which day you'll be turning up. Will cost to hire transport but will still be cheaper and less time consuming then keeping pony for longer

One of mine is out on loan, and I have to say - if the loaner wanted to send him back to me Id expect him to sort out his own transport, but if it was me giving him notice, then I would be sorting my own out.

give your notice as per your agreement/contract. and then contact owner to confirm details regarding return delivery. make sure he has been wormed/teeth/shod as per loan arrangement. and returned in good health/state. and return taci and rugs clean or as clean as can be in winter!
