WWYD

Aww too cute! I would have wanted them all !

I know very little about donkeys so tell me what is it that makes them extra special to you than horses? I remember your heartbreaking post with little Melody :-(

My Connie better watch it he may be traded in :D
LOL thank you for remembering our Melody

what was weird was yesterday, I had fed the yard and my pony who is next door to Melody and been on the yard 1 1/2 yards and I was over at another stable and something made me turn round and Melody's stable door was wide open. Like a sign she was welcoming the new addition.

I love donkeys even though I have 3 horses too, they are so easy to look after requiring little feed. Cannot wait for the call to say he is nearly here.

Well she arrived about 10.20am Here is a photo as don't want to disturb her yet as she had a long journey and Melodies tree ( our late donkey ) is just in the picture the little one with tape round and has a model donkey under it

Ah she's sweet, she looks like she is making herself at home. I had 2 donkeys when I was younger and they were such lovely friends, great characters too. Enjoy your new little lady :)

Aww she's lovely looks very at home there which is nice. So what are your plans with her ? When will you introduce her to your other pony ?

I was always under the impression donkeys are harder to care for as they don't have waterproof coats (mine lives out 24/7) so would be no good for me. Do they have special diets ?

Well she has never worn a rug before but she has Melody's complete wardrobe from light weight to heavy weight and summer sheet to fly rug.

Your right they are not water proof so we will work on the rug intro in next week or so.

Plans are just really for her to enjoy life cuddled - loved pampered and maybe in future learnt to be driven.

Sort out the insurance and give her 2 weeks in the adjacent field to the ponies then intro to my welsh A then the welsh B who is finer than my welsh A. We want her fully insured before she joins them, also will start her vaccinations this week. There is a special diet but we are opting with Fibergy and nuts to start with and a multi vit. Melody was on this http://www.efeed.co.uk/products/horse-feed/chaff/donkey.

Her first night here and she is scared of the manger so we put in on the floor to get used to the manger before we raise manger back into bracket

Sitting here on the computer I heard a bang bang bang

opened the door ( familiar sound from my late pony ) checked out new girl and she was lying flat out. Saw me and thrashed about and got up, I think she was cast, but going out in a min to check her.

My pony coliked in the first week and 6 weeks later she was pts The sound just now was the same :(
