Does anyone know if there's any way to get info on these saddles? I've seen one that may suit for my boy, it has a serial number on it. I have called the shop and the lad i spoke to said they wouldn't have any info on them anymore. Just wondered if there was any other way i could find this/contact?

My DH used to make saddles for Wychanger Barton when Nathaniel owned the business.

It may possibly be one of his - if you can post a pic or a link to the for sale ad I can let you know. :)

Thank you for the link @FabioandFreddy

This isn't one of my DH's - he has had a look at the saddle, but he does not know who made that particular one.

Sorry - I have been no use whatsoever! :(

A lot of saddles are just rebadged brands. Most of the Wychanger ones I have seen have been like that and the majority of Nathanials own were Ideals. There might be a few tweaks made but the tree etc will be a well known brand.

Is that for definite? I would say that the quality of his more recent OP brand that he had before retirement were better quality than Ideal. And agree that there are definitely several brands that are just rebadged - Ideal make for Stirlingshire, Martin Wilkinson, a model or two for Fylde, Southam Saddles, and probably more.

It was a few years ago but I ordered a saddle directly with Ideal that I wanted as was only in prototype stage (its now the Ideal Pro jump). It had gone out to a few pros for testing but still very much in development. I knew about it because a HHO member at the time worked for Ideal and told me about it as was moaning that I could not find what I wanted monoflap saddle wise. Ideal came out to me so I could have a ride in it. I then ordered one. Nathaniel came out and fitted it for me and made the final tweaks. He then re-badged it to his make which did annoy me!

We have two of Nathaniel's VSDs from ermm 10/12 ish years ago. I've always considered them ideals but with moveable blocks/nicer leather. I know another local saddler who is also supplied by ideal for their own branding but upgrade them leather wise.

Interesting about Nathaniel because honestly, there was never anything about the ones I've seen that made me think they're made by Ideal, but Martin Wilkinsons etc I can spot at 100 paces and usually know the models. Even the tree shape from the front (Ideal being slightly bell shaped, Nathaniel/OP not) of the ones I've seen is different. But clearly I'm wrong!

I’m a saddler who used to deal in 2nd hand Saddles for 25 years (now concentrating on refitting clients existing saddles, side saddle specialist) and I totally agree with you - never seen a farrington that looked like an ideal either

Well will soon see as ordered the Wychanger Barton saddle ready for saddler coming out to fit next Thursday, can send back if not right.
Spoke to the lady at the saddlery that has the saddle before i bought online, she said has had a few of them and identical to Farrington which is good! Have also got a Synergy jump saddle coming too as similar to an Ideal Grandee which is another i know will suit my boy. So fingers crossed 1 fits nicely!
