X Country schooling

Does anyone know any courses in Essex that will be open at the weekend?

I was intending on going to Berwick Farm, but it is closed at the minute.

Have you tried Downhouse or Furness Farm?
I have their numbers if you want.

HJ has Poplar Park and Stratford Hills numbers I think

Not sure if you have been or not but be warned the water is horrid! It is very enclosed and dark and a running stream, nothing seems to like it, so might be worth trying a more open water like Berwick Farm or Stratford Hills first if he isnt dead confident with water

HJ does have a point with the water. Its not all that nice - my boy just jumps the stream and carrys on up the steps

Furness Farm's water isn't too bad - its got slightly enclosed sides (and okay not the cleanest water) but it has one end with a slope in and one with small steps in so you have two options

Yes this is a nice course, but the ground can be very hard - although you wouldnt have to worry about that at the mo!

Cant believe everything is shut when it has been so dry, all teh wet from the last week must just be sitting on top I spose

Great Westwood is nice and is almost always open. They have two waters - the little one on the course is ok but not usually much water in it, if any, and its only for a real baby first timer as its very easy and little.
The bigger water is in their schooling bit, but be careful there, its a bit uneven at the bottom and I've known 2 horses go down in it.
I am looking for somewhere to go this weekend too - not so worried about water but need to practise ditches! Whereabouts is Downhouse Farm?

You can see it from the new A130.

Coming from, Wickford/Rayleigh way you need to go up the old A130 and its a left before a house over a bridge. Not very helpful I know but I cant describe and im not sure what the road is!

Only one coffin and a ditch in front of a bank at Downhouse though.
