Hello,
Am getting some x-country colours for my birthday. Previously had a rather boring rugby shirt style top. Thought that base layers look quite smart but how do you wear them? Do you just wear these and a body protector, what do you do as a neckline? Been looking at those with patterns/coloured arms. Any piccies would be helpful, most websites don't seem to show them on actual people! Just looking to do local hunter trials and maybe odd BE.
Thanks,
Liz

I have a running top, so just wear shirt and stock from dr and sj before hand and swap jacket for running top. But you can get some nice ones that have the stock collar on them so you dont have to worry.

This is a bit of a rubbish photo but its the best I have to show it.

Get something bright/easily distinguished as it just makes looking through pro pics so much easier to find you, and if you have spectators it's easier to follow round the course (especially if you have a bay or grey like mine!)

I have navy and yellow which I really like and are nice colours to pick out.

Best picture I have, sorry!

it's a cotton rugby shirt which I like, warm enough in winds but cool enough after the round :)

You can get some really nice base layer type tops from TKmaxx, some of them even have extra long zips so they can be taken on and off over a hat. Look in both mens and ladies active wear

I have a bright pink ski top that I wear. I got it from TK Maxx. It's great as it is fitted, it's made out of the proper material, its easy to move around in and is slim line so fits under the BP. Then a matching hat silk and gloves!

I don't like rugby shirts, too bulky to put under a BP and make you look bigger than you are over the top of a BP.
Otherwise a neautral coloured ski type base layer (cream or white) with long sleeves and the new BP's you can get where you can choose your colours and get matching hat silks look nice.

If you don't want to fork out for the coloured body protectors Ski wear is perfect IMO as it is fashionable and perfect for sport :).

Heres me:-

I wear a Puffa base layer then a Kerrits short sleeve (very lightweight) top which has a 1/2 zip neckline, then BP over the top. I find rugby tops a bit too heavy / hot and too bulky.

I have a ski top too, but mine's just plain black. I tent to just put it on over the top of my stock and shirt :)
Don't have a picture though (uni computer!)

Al uses a plain blue cycling top for all three phases, and has a stock on over the collar and pins the flappy bit to the chest. She usually wears a jumper over the top for the SJ and dressage though.

The cycling top cost £20 from the local sports outlet!

So for the stressage and SJ she looks like:

Then whips off her jacket and adds a BP for the XC to look like:

With the stock still on.

Her hat is a Treehouse sil, and is her pride and joy. It's bright enough to pick them out easily but is toned down by the plain arms :D

Hello,
Thanks for the responces. Think will go along the base layer route. Think that you all look very smart! Hav had a look at GG website, looks good for those with coloured patterned arms and do fancy a good hat silk. Also is local which adds points. I was wondering about putting stock with it as I think they look good, will just have to get to grips with tying a proper one rather than the fake one!
