just got off phone to the vet, he has a thickening of the bone which indicates he has a hairline fracture there, he cant see an ovbious line but is prety certain this is the problem, he is due to have a bone scan on his other hind so he going to have one on this leg also to confirm that their is a fracture there. the hospital dont currently have the radioactive dye to do the bone scans but are expected to within the next week then hel go straight up. hes got to be kept quiet, which for a tb isn't easy! he cant be box rested as he hates being stabled and will make it worse but if he hoolies round the field he will have a full blown fracture, so he is being penned off into a small pen and it will take over a month to heal! if he doesnt settle in the field he will go to a friends yard where all the horses are stabled and with a horse walker. dont really know how i feel at the mo, iv had so much go wrong this last 9 weeks with him that i am numb to bad news.

Is he going over to langford for the bone scan, mine went there last year. The vet who we had was great phoned me up everyday to say how she was etc. Never indicated she was naughty the whole time, until nicko told me how bad she was for them.

They tell you the results soon as they have done the scan and offer advice and what treatment the horse needs with your vet. Good luck keeping him quite and hope the scan goes well.

Agree Langford are fabulous. When my horse was there, they phoned two or three times a day. (and once at just after midnight, following an operation, to let me know how it went.) Mine could be a bit naughty...he had been on a drip and as soon as he was off the drip and well enough to be walked out, he towed the nurse across the yard so he could eat a dandelion growing in the corner. She just sounded pleased that he felt like eating! Good luck with your boy.

yes i believe hes going to langford. my old pony went there years ago for an op and they were great. id rather he went there simply because i know some people who work there and as i wont be able to see him as hel be radioactive il be going mad wondering how he is. just pray to god he doesn't do something stupid and fracture it.
