How much do people expect to pay for having their horses back x rayed and subsequently how much are injections these days?
Horse has been showing some slight behavioural changes recently, had the physio out today and he wasn’t quite right (no visible lameness but sore in his lumbar and near his sacroiliac joint)
Physio has advised it could just be saddle fit so to give him time off until he can get his saddle checked, if the soreness/tightness is still there after time off and saddle fitting correctly to think about x rays.

Had back x rays years ago and cant remember pricing so cant help you on that one but thought it say my horse gets SI and lumbar discomfort due to hock pain/arthritis so may be worth looking there if back x rays dont get you anywhere

My vet didn't x ray for si because as zoeypxo said my horse had suspensory damage and a bit of hock arthritis, that was all treated but his canter still wasn't right so he did the si joint shortly after because it all sort of goes hand in hand and it really made a difference.

So it might be worth getting a work up done and focus on the hind limbs first because if you treat the si not knowing what's going on below its a bit pointless.

Thank you so much! My physio did mention that too, I’m hoping it’s just his saddle not fitting correctly has made him sore and tight everywhere, he’s only 8 and been worrying myself to death that he’s got something majorly wrong 😔

Hopefully it is the saddle at that age! My horse is 19 so you sort of expect it and he had a bad suspensory injury at 12 so his not done too bad.

Fingers crossed its noting serious.

I took my gelding to vet last month to have his back and hocks xrayed as well as scope for ulcers, as he was sore over lumbar and 'not quite right' despite recent saddle fit and physio appointments. Mild kissing spine, mild osteoarthritis and mild ulcers all found so it was worth doing. He had 6 steroid injections in his back and I left with a tub of ulcer supplement, with a view to treat ulcers further if symptoms don't improve enough with just the supplement and sorting the back pain, I've also put him on joint supplement. All together it came to about £1.5k.
