Can anyone please recommend boots for use in xc, sj that are lightweight, breathable and secure, can be used in water as well as being supportive.
The pony isn't a fan of bandages being wrapped around her fetlocks for keeping white socks clean and for traveling, she tries to kick them off, she won't tolerate travel boots either, so I'm not sure how she'll respond to tendon support boots and I don't want to spend a fortune on boots she won't accept.

If you want close fronted unimpressed with my new WW Event.....alternatively from someone whose horse has 4 white stockings....chalk is your friend!!!

We go through Pounds of chalk for showing, and have to rewash hinds when we get to location. White socks look stunning but are a right royal pain in the butt, lol.
Not being up to date on the latest makes, there's so many more out there now than when I needed them many years ago! I need a make of boots that are lightweight, have good support for tendons and ligaments without overheating them and waterproof as well, plus won't break the bank if she refuses to accept them and tries to kick them off. Daughter and pony are moving from SJ and WH to eventing for a change of activity.
Plus we're getting a bit fed up with showing. Far from bad losers and we're not in it for the 'bling in the cabinet', but there's far too much bias starting to appear in our area now to make it worth the effort so it's not as enjoyable anymore.

Premier Equine do a good quality range to suit your needs, they are designed to be light, air cooled and offer good tendon protection, I use mine for SJ and XC, they have lasted well and are reasonably priced especially if you are in no rush and wait for the offers they give.
No boot can really support the tendons they offer protection against strike injuries and knocks.

Ditto this, I saw them in person and was eyeing them up as they felt very nice on the inside (similar to my veredus tendons) but with the all round protection.

I have the Premier Equine Air Cooled boots for XC, front and hinds. I really am not v happy with them! I have to use loads of tape to keep them in place and although they do fit well, as soon as they get wet they move and spin round. We usually finish a XC course with them practically over his hooves. I won't be buying any more of theirs.

Am still looking for open fronted boots for SJ.

Stupid sleepy predictive text... That should say I am impressed!!! They didn't budge, dried quickly and his legs were not to hot!

Stupid girl!!! (Wanders off muttering)

I've got a pair of New Equine Wear X country boot 'lite' second ones down:

I've had them years now and find them perfect. Have a bit of bother with the hinds slipping round but in hindsight she prob could have the size down as they are a little long hence why i think they move!
Fronts are perfect though and get used if we're doing anything more serious including beach rides :)

What sort of horse do you have, I find the PE boots seem to fit tb types quite well, they have never budged on either of mine but are not so good on other types of conformation.

Have also got some trizone allsports boots which I like, they are very lightweight.

Native-y type, prob a connemara with a bit of ID and/ or cob thrown in. Short legs, massive knees, big horse sized body (I think I have actually just described a hippo, not a pony! ;) ). The boots do fit though and when they're dry I can't budge them. The problem only happens once they get wet, so once we've been through the water complex on a XC course, that's it. They also seem to get really wet and heavy, which I don't like.

its funny because a few months ago I posted the same question and got some great advice so hoping I can pass it on.
I would never do xc in tendon or fetlock boots as the front of the leg has no protection. Lots of people mentiond wraps?
Delmar xc boots are excelent and very breathable, however i bought the premier equine ones which were great for my horse and really protected his old legs!!
The only thing about the delmar or premier equine boots is that they are very expensive so if you try and get them second hand it would be even better!

i couldnt express how good these two makes of xc boots are! and if you look closly alot of the top eventing horses are using them!

i belive the premier equine boots are called sporting ones these are not wraps and the have a thin piece of metal which goes down the back of the horses tendon. Hoped this helped :)

Mine have stayed put even after going through the water several times when schooling.

I do think alot of their products just aren't designed for heavier and native types. The sports boots which fit mine really well never sat right on my friends heavier stamp ID.

I have the premier equine xc boots on my warmblood and have never had an issue with them, they fitted my TB fine too! Brilliant set of boots :)

I use my PE on many different types, I never use tape on them as they have strong Velcro but I always do them up them redo the straps once they are on just to make sure the tension is even and that it is tight enough, they have never moved when competing or schooling but my horses do have any feather, not that they have much, removed as standard for tidiness, they probably would be difficult to do up on something with hairy heels especially the hinds.

It wasn't meant as a criticism of the boots, makes sense to me that certain makes will fit a certain length/width ratio of the cannon bones.

My friends horse they would not physically fit as if you got extra large to go round they would be practically reach to the bottom of the hoof.

The NEW ones are probably the lightest and coolest. Don't find they really move- we use prolite and dalmar more on the event horses but not sure either would be light enough- and the prolites get a bit heavy when wet

As above - I find the PE XC boots are quite stiff but they mould to horses leg with body heat. Therefore redo the straps once they've been on for 10 mins.

I'd highly doubt horse boots have metal in them...
