An update on my mare's first xc!
We went last Saturday then had a holiday/wedding in France so just getting round to updating and also need some help choosing a pic!
Soooooo cob is 5 years old and just started jumping. She has been building her confidence up at home over show jumps and a few home made hay jumps at home in the field. Never seen a xc fence before so was curious to see how she would fair. Local xc clear round venue, lovely sunny morning and absolutly no rush or pressure, was very relaxed venue. Walked the course on arrival, there where 8 fences across a hilly field. Nothing too scary, just tyres and styles and gates etc. There was a choice of 3 heights, one being around 2ft next 2ft3 next around 2ft6. the last one was a bit bigger and went 2ft3 2ft6 and 2ft9. Decided i would go for the 2ft3.
Warmed her up for a few mins and popped a straight in the field, at first she stopped had a good look then took a huge leap!
I didn't want to warm up too much as she tires easy so went straight in for the xc.
First fence she was legs everywhere!! but popped it in a funky fashion! next was the tyres, she refused point blank around 5 times. In the end a friend gave us a lead over it and she did her stop, look and leap thing leaving me slightly behind!

Next fences she looked but kept going and by fence 5 she was in the flow.
A 20 min break and we decided to have another go...............well, she was a star\!! ears pricked all the way round and she had a nice pull without being strong. She was very keen jumped everything and we even did some of the bigger fences, we went clear and earned a rosette
thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go again!
I think once she gets going and knows what shes doing shes going to be fab
Maybe doing some SJ this weekend looking forward to it!
These are my pics:
Awaiting to warm up - yes she needs a good hog and trim again!

She is quite distinctive so easy to spot
2nd lot of pics are better (taken 2nd time round) as you can see legs are everywhere!! my position is a bit
at times but she did take me by surpise on a few occasions
am trying to sit more into my seat (tyre pic 1st one listed below) rather than standing up!
row 3 2nd pic in - this is me getting left behind after a stop, look and leap!

Am liking 4th row down - 1st pic on left (tyres)
14 row down (from top) 3rd one across - i love her expression
15 row down last one on the right
16 row down 1st pic on left
Which one should i go for?!
