Hey,

I'm just about to start competing affiliated and am wondering where everyone buys their Stopwatches from, I'm pleased about BE continuing the trial at 90 and above (or 80) but don't know where to start with stopwatches. i've seen some advertised - for instance the ones in the BE handbook but they're after £60 up, I can barely afford to compete let alone buying a stopwatch for that sort of price.
Does anyone have any suggestions of either cheap ones or second hand ones?
Also XC colours, where might be best to buy a set i.e - hat silk, baselayer and boots?
Thank you in advance!

I wouldn't bother about a stopwatch for now tbh. I only use one for International + It's a very good thing to be able to learn to find your pace naturally for the various levels as then you can alter for short/long routes and keep close to the optimum time while keeping a rhythm.

Not sure where to buy XC colours as I use my hometown rugby team colours! Fits over BP and was relatively cheap, plus I like it! Colours are black and white stripes, I use a white saddlecloth and black boots with white tape.

Forget the stopwatch, go out and concentrate on the course for now. My daughter used to wear a plain black compression type sports shirt and a hat cover with silver stars, looked really smart. Got the top in TK Maxx for about £10. Personally I work on the 'less is more' theory. Especially for affiliated comps.

Ditto others - you do not have to have a stopwatch. Although it is permitted and in due course you might want to try one, they are more of a distraction at first. Custom XC have good colour sets for a reasonable price. Don't match your boots - use your regular XC boots and if you must get a matching gaffer tape for the tabs.
