XC gcse video. CC please

I have no idea what standard you are supposed to be at for your GCSE but that all looked very competent and nicely ridden. Only CC would be the captions on the video, do you have to put the heights on? I know sometimes it can look deceptive on film and I'm not sure how you measured the fences but they don't look to match up with the captions.

yes i do have to put it on unfortunately. however i haven't measured them myself, they are the heights i took of the map of the course so i guess it's probably not accurate :( the XC has to be minimum 2ft6 :)

Well I would say you were making a lovely job of riding the horse and it's definitely bigger than 2'6" but whoever measured the heights on there had a bloody funny ruler LOL!

yeah i got a ten for mine too hehe vid looks fine but the jumps dont look the height what they say and also on mine i never had to write heights on.

nicely done and I expect it will be just the ticket (particularly the water sequence)

BUT

I think you would have heart failure if you saw the size of the 3'6 fences at our local xc course

Where is this video'd?

For GCSE PE that looks good.

In the vidoe the fences look "small" BUT more often than not videos do make fences look smaller, especially when the video is taken a distance from the fence.

The fences definitely looks bigger than 2'6 and the water sequence is nice because it shows a good level of technicality. :)

Agree on your heights! I have been to ayelsford many a times and those measurements are definatly wrong. Especially the coffin but if that's what the website says then I think they need a new tape measure!! Your video has made me desperate to go xc schooling now though!

I think it looks fine- apart from many of those jumps being nowhere near 2ft6. Never mind the captions under the video!! I think you rode lovely, and you obviously can jump bigger than what we saw...The duck, the hedge and the pipes looked huge..but everything else looked minimus to me :/ but thats just my thoughts. Unless youre incredibly tall and your horse is like 19hh- making everything look smaller?!?!

Looks good agree with jump heights but it can be deceiving.

I think the only thing it's missing are a couple of good galloping fences where you can get off his back and have a blast but the technicality looks good. :)

To be fair rider is almost 6 foot, and horse is over 16hh so the jumps do look small. Agree the course map sizes are a bit out but
some of those were well up to my arm pit! I'm quite small though. Positive comments generally. :-)

It was videoed at Ayelsford XC, i used their map to get the heights, horsey is 16.2ish and i'm 5ft11 so yeah we're a pretty tall pair :) trouble is, if i had a good gallop she'd most likely fall over as she's not incredibly good at multi tasking and its me who needs to sort the striding for her, she sometimes doesn't realise the jump is even there as she's looking at something more interesting in another direction but thats just her and im used to it  i agree with you regarding some of the sizes of those fences BUT the website says they're that height so i'm not gonna argue + if there are any problems with the exam borad saying that they're smaller than they state i can always provide them with the link to the website :)
thank you for nice comments though :D

Nice vid - aside from the obvious height comments, when you jump the frog after the water, it looks like there is a red flag on your left....now I appreciate that could be 'left over' flagging and it is perfectly safe to jump in both directions, but if anyone 'horsey' marks the vid, then will they mark you down for that? I would if the criteria allowed me to!!

I think that video looks great, and more than enough for your GCSE assesment.

I've seen alot smaller, less complicated jumps being tackled on one of those.

.. and what a lovely horse.

That looks really nicely ridden, think you'll do well for your gcse assesment but the heights are are little silly. ive ridden my 12.2 round that course and most of them are no bigger than 3ft, but lovely jumping anyway :)

lovely video not sure if you should use music for a GCSE piece but ridden beautifully I also think knowing you are tall and horse big makes a difference to perception! x

blimey i did gcse pe horse riding got a ten and all they had to see was that i was capable of riding on my own in walk trot and canter with movements.

i also did rugby for my gcse and i had to run fast enough to keep up with the 6.2 lad and the pe teacher who were the only people at school who could play well enough for me to get a ten. those where back in the days when i could run :)

video looks brilliant and i wouldnt worry about it. also apart from the first bit the jumps dont look to far of the hight they are suppost to be xx

Wow - back in the day when I did my PE GCSE the choice of individual sports were swimming, diving or gymnastics. Great that they are opening it up.

I don't know what they are looking for but it look pretty comprehensive to me with lots of variety. Jumps do look smaller than captions, but they are also clearly bigger than 2'6 so there won't be an issue.

Only thing I would question is- as it's a school thing wouldn't they insist on a body protector?

Well done
