XC Hind Boots - ones that don't slip?!

Sorry know this has been done before.
Horse is ID*TB 16.2hh (medium build not fine but not with loads of bone either) and I have had terrible trouble with his hind boots slipping XC. Particularly if schooling and a few goes in the water involved.

Today despite having taped his rear boots with 3 lots of tape finished schooling to find them slipped below his fetlocks :o Had NEW aircooled ones on today size medium so not a case of them being too big.

I have some Premier Equine ones I have yet to fully test out - though they look bulkier. Friend recommended prolites and just interested in other recommendations particularly on similar sort of horse
 
I used Prem Equines on Mal without any bother from the hind ones. But I use EcoGolds all round now, the back ones have a rubbery strip inside to stop the slipping. So far so good, although I've only used them properly twice! The rubber stuff is the same as the stuff on their pads and they don't budge an inch either.
 
I use premier equine, I used them all last season and using them this season and they haven't slipped once even when I have had two water jumps. Would highly recommend.

Oh yes I have the pad so I know what you mean.
Do the boots have a solid srike guard in them?

Sounds like I need to give the PE ones a good test then! I had the white ones of theirs before bought cheap in the sale but they didn't wash and wear well. Have decided only to cold hose the new PE ones and see if that helps.
 
I haven't had trouble with PE ones slipping having used two different types on various different horses. I also haven't had trouble with Sabre ones slipping.

They do, although it's quite short. It's not a shaped one like in the PE ones either, it flexes around the leg as you fasten, which I much prefer as I am positive that's what made Mally's leg swell. Like I said though, never had a problem with the back PE boot's I still use them.
 
We've used Premier Equine boots on two of ours for XC and hunting - through all sorts of mud, water etc they have never slipped.
 
I have a full set if PE ones. The hinds are great don't slip at all but the front ones always rotate around my mares legs!!
 
Ive had prolite, woof wear ultras, and prem equine xtreme eventing boots. Woof slipped terribly, the others have been fine, but I know some people do have probs with them. The prem equine xtreme boots are the only prem equine boots id recommemd as the others arent as hard wearing I believe!

That's exactly what mine did, she ended up with a fat leg and caused me a nervous breakdown as I convinced myself she had done a tendon. The Vet said a boot rub was the most likely cause, which is why I got rid of the front boots.
 
EITHER old fashioned prolites and bandage over and then sew (how old am I??) or sticky tape over the bandage tapes OR old fashioned leather hind boots with leather straps and neoprene innards.
 
We have medium, NEW aircoled boots on our 16h mw IDxTB mare and they have never moved, you do have to get them pretty tight though. I had woof ultras on the previous horse and the fronts were fine but the hinds slipped terribly.
 
B has PE ones and i like them. They do slip without tape but I think that's because he's a slightly awkward size and they only just fit really. If his legs are clipped they're fine. I bought them 4 years ago when I got him and they are only just starting to show wear, will probably replace them sometime this season. He's done 3 seasons of eventing and hunted plenty in them. I'll be replacing them with the newer version PE ones.
 
I have the Dalmar event boots (front and hind) and have found these to be really good. Team chase and they never move and legs don't get too warm as they have air flow bits (technical term!) :D Carbon fibre strike guards so good protection and very light. Good boots :)
 
I had PE and the slipped/twisted generally weren't great for my mare, then brought a set of eskadron XC hind boots and they're fab :)
 
Wow! Lots of different opinions there!
Obviously there seems to be no magic set that suit all horses!! I have never had a problem with front ones but always have a problem with hind ones.

Think will give my PE ones a proper trialling first but bear in mind the recommendations if they don't fit the bill too.
 
With regards to the Dalmar, I hadn't really got an opinion on them but heard lots of stories about the strike guards being dangerous, so steered clear of them for that reason.
However I bought some of their over reach boots and the strike guard in it has just broken, I'm not sure what from but if Mally had kicked it she would have probably hurt herself so I don't think she has. Any way, the strike guard has snapped into several very sharp pieces and there is no way on earth I would want that next to my horses tendons!
 
I use prolites on the back - fabulous boots never slip/spin or rub at all. Mine were quite rigid when I first got them but mould well round autumns legs now they have been used a few times
 
Can't comment on hind boots as um I don't wear any!! However, have prolites on the front as they were a new purchase this season as my woof wears had worn out and I have to say they do not shift at all and really impressed with them so far.
 
Your right in saying that different boots suit different horses. I have had some PE boots, large size for 16.3 tb - never slipped. Put the same pair on 16.1 id x with elephant legs, and they slipped down. Couldn't quite figure that one out, but bought him a pair of second hand medium prolites, and they were a little small, but didn't slip.

I think elephant legs was an awkward horse to fit!
