Anyone know of any that are scheduled?

I know that West Loudon are hoping to run again in August but wondered if there are any others?

Depending on how we go at Kinnaird next weekend I might be entering Drumclog but would ideally like another ODE or couple of XC runs beforehand but August seems pretty quiet!

Anyone know of anything?

If your prepared to travel a bit further theres one at Titlington on the 7th. Its near Alnwick and takes me about 2hours from Edinburgh way. Nice course and worth going that wee bit further for imho.

Scone 80T - 6th of August :)

Inchonnans isnt a real "ODE" - the XC is WH jumps over a short track so might not be worth you traveling for IMO unless you do DR and two SJ rounds as you can pick do the phases you want rather than doing DR, SJ and XC if that makes sense!

Scone!!! Eeek Emma I think scone 80T might be too big for us - I've heard it's a really beefy course whereas Drumclog is supposed to be a bit kinder for a novice like me :D

Titlington is to far Saz - can't afford the diesel costs.

Agree about Inchoonans - it's not a true ODE and without proper XC it's not worth the trip.

I thought id throw scone into the mix just incase!! the Unaff 80 there was on the small side for XC bar a few fences but I am not sure if they will build some new jumps for the XC with it now running it as an affilated course.

The other thing I can think of its jumpcross? I always think thats good for preparing for ODEs as its a mix of all SJ/XC and really gets you thinking.

I've found a clear round XC the last weekend of July then I'm training at Strathallan with DG early August so I might just see if I can fit in another XC lesson although I don't ride as positively in a lesson than I do at a competition.

I'll just aim for Drumclog this year and if I survive that I might go for Scone next year lol!

FJ - saw the Les Smith training - will consider it but heard mixed reviews about his previous training there so will have a think.

Not sure how much use it us but we have an xc course at our yard that can't be too far from you? It's not the longest track (from memory there's 15 different jumps) but our ground is excellent and each jump has the option of 2 different heights. There's also a set of sj's you can use plus the parkings fab.

Where abouts are you WP?

Assuming I'm correct that you used to use another forum its the same yard Jen had Tyler at?
YO has been adding to xc course this year so it's pretty good.

If you don't mind competing midweek there are riding club classes at the pony club areas at Auchinleck on Aug 3rd?

i second the lesson with les smith, i have done all the xc lessons at dalkieth with les and have got so much out of them to the stage where im going to enter the BE80/90 at drumclog never in a million years would i thought i would do that, he is good, pushy but also takes his time if you are worried about something and makes it into a bit of a joke making it fun, personally i couldnt thank les enough this time last year i wouldnt jump anything over 2ft xc and last month jumped some of the open fences without the lessons i wouldnt have had the confidence

Daveismycat where can I get details of the auckinleck comp?

Unfortunately the les smith lesson is the day before strathallan training but will look out for any future dates

Central Scotland 80t is a completely new course with a new set of jumps being built for the August event.

Good to know - I suspect it might still be a bit meaty for our first BE80 but will definitely attempt it next year.

Does anyone have pictures of the current Scone BE80 course? I'd be intersted to have a look.

daveismycat - I'll be joining you in the 75cm class at Auckinleck. Sending my entry off today. Will probably be our first ODE/XC that we are attending on our own as I doubt I'll find someone to groom for me midweek.

thats the unaff. couse from last year, this years course which I did had some different fences, and a different order which is a good thing about scone as it keep the course fresh.

Its a really lovely event BabyBear so worth aiming for next year - the unaff is run by fife hunt pony club and its a lovely flowing course so I find takes less out of your horse XC wise.

I think Les is a fabby xc trainer - definitely one of the best in Scotland:D

I think the issues my friend found was that it was a mixed training/comp day and there were about 12 people in her group so she felt that she didn't get as much instruction as she would have liked.

I saw him teach at SNEC and liked his style but will stick with the DG lesson at Strathallan for now as I find his lessons really beneficial.

Les seems to be teaching at EEC a lot so will keep an eye out for future lessons but I think Casper might run away from home if I asked him to do 2 XC training sessions and a ODE within 3 days!

We'll have to try and park together at Auchinleck as I'll most likely be going alone, although my instructor will be going with the pony club so I might be able to twist her arm to help psyche me up before the sj!!!

Sounds like a plan. I'll have to walk the course on the day as won't manage the day before so I'll probably be there really early to give myself plenty of time. Sent the entry off today! :D

I'll walk on the day too. It's just too blimmin' far to justify driving across the day before to walk it. OOooh, excited now!

SNEC tomorrow??

Yeah it's about 50 miles from me so not as far as you but I've got XC training as Strathallan the day before - poor Casper will be shattered by the end of it.

No SNEC tomorrow - what's on? I've got a RC comp on Sunday.
