A few weeks ago and the weekend just gone with my PC i went XC schooling :D

1st Week -Sara our instructor was seeing our XC ability and to see how well we knew our horse/ponies. We started off small and built up to about 3ft but all varied from rider to rider. Me (Fern) and My boy (Jake) love XC so my boy was very on his toes and ready to go :p We started off jumping simple fences then putting fences together so nothing to challenging yet :) we then moved onto the ditch  "mind ditches do eat my horse" :p we trotted up to it slowly and he stopped and had a sniff then lept over, :) we then went round again at a canter and he freaked out a bit so i loosened my rein and squeezed and over we popped, then my instructor said "that is a rider who knows her horse" :D I was so proud of my boy and it was fantastic to get such a nice compliment :D We then carried on doing more jumps, which included, coffins, steps, doubles, ditches, down hill jumps he only refused one jump which was down hill but it was rider error as i was a bit  and nervous so he sensed it off me bless him. At the end of the 2 hours we were given things to work. It was a fantastic day and i was one happy mummy and couldn't wait till next time.

2nd Week -Amazingly XC was on after torrential rain Friday so i studded up and i took things slow and steady with my boy. We all stuck to smaller fences this week due to slippy and boggy ground! As week 1 we started off small and worked up to bigger fences. Today my boy was very wound up and was really on his toes :p We worked on getting off there backs going up hills and letting them go so both me and Jake were very excited :D I didn't let Jake go to much at first as wanted to see how he would cope with ground, no probs :D Sara gave us a little course to do which included going up a very steep hill and over a wide log pile. Off we go me and Jake go over the 1st then the 2nd (which is ditch) no probs flew over it :D up to wall flew over then i get off his back and let him go for a good blast up hill which he absaloutely loved then up to log pile flew over then i heard Sara shout "Brilliant Fern, just brilliant" :D So then i am going round with big smile on face! We then move on to water jump so one by one we go in threw water jump over fence down hill and back threw water, well my boy didn't like being left (even though there are other horses still with him) so he starts flying back and leaping in the air and ready to go cantering down the hill after his mates :p Silly Boy. We then did a few more jumps after that which Jake flew over and then we finished by cantering in to the water :p when it was our turn he did it brilliantly :D To finish off we went up some steps which Jakey did foot Perfect. When we were cooling down Sara said would evaluate us and she said that i had improved so much since the 1st week and me and Jake had worked so well together :D

I was so over the moon with my special boy and he had a nice big bucket of Pasture Mix when he got back to the trailer.
Thanks for reading, chocs and sweets :D now for the pics xxxxxx
