I have a childeric and seems to put me in an okay position but doesn't fit horse very well so tried a Devoucoux and I was being thrown all over the place while jumping so have tried Fairfax and my long legs (very long from hip to knee) go over the blocks but horse likes it but not very comfy! What xc saddles does everyone like and why? People seem to be raving about Butet at the moment! Also was wondering if a double flap xc saddle would put me in a better position? Seen Emily King ride in her double flap Equipe saddle and heard someone saying they are moving to one for more balance!

Thanks :)

I've heard great things about the Equipe too
I haven't ridden in one, but posted a thread last night asking about them. Nobody has responded yet.

I've ridden in a Butet & LOVED it, my bottom stuck to the seat and it was incredibly close contact my concerns were that it lacked big knee blocks which I tend to like a xc/jump saddle to have & they're so expensive even second hand!

I'll be following to hear Equipe experiences. Good luck finding a saddle.

I have an equipe expression monoflap and it is hands down the best XC saddle I have ridden in. It puts me in the perfect balance and makes everything feel effortless. In my old saddle I used to get really bad back pain, knee pain and ankle pain while doing XC. I have had none of those problems since changing to the equipe.
The only downside is the seat on mine is like concrete to sit in (it is a slightly older model though, so the new ones may be different). This doesn't matter for jumping but hacking took a while to get used to. I now have a heather moffat seat saver for hacking in it and now it is perfect in every way.

Thank you! If you hear anything about Equipe saddles could you please post it here? Yeah my childeric has big knee blocks but actually makes it worse for shortening stirrups! :)

I'm coveting the equipe expression atm having just bout the emporio dressage saddle, I currently have a K2 but find its a bit bulk now and want something a bit more streamlined

That's great thank you! I actually have arthritis (even know I'm only 14!) so my ankles get very sore and knees sometimes too. Do you know if the reps can come up to Scotland? Thanks :)

Also forgot to add that since swapping to the Equipe my mare has never jumped and performed better. She seems to have found a whole new level since the change which is amazing.
I got mine second hand and fitted it myself (I got my saddler to check it and they were very impressed with the fit).

Do you used flexi stirrups? this is what i found made the most difference to my weak ankles and dodgey knees

Solution smart pro jump - fully deformable in the event (God forbid) that you have a rotational fall and fully flexible so will fit the horse(s) throughout the season. Designed alongside a 4* rider too. Love mine!

Never heard of these before! Was reading how they are treeless saddles - do you feel they still give you the support you need while going xc and do the front blocks restrict you in anyway? Not sure about buying one without trying one first though

You pick which size and style knee blocks you like and then position and angle them to suit your riding style. The advisor will also balance the saddle so that you're in the optimum position and can ride at your most effective. You can rent a saddle for a couple of weeks before buying, which is really helpful. Best thing to do is to arrange a fitting with one of the fitters and have a trial to see if you like them or not :)
