took buster over to hoplands today for our 1st xc schooling of thee year and to get some practice in before tweseldown. a friend who we were going with kindly came and picked us up. buster has never been in any lorry other than mine and he was not inpressed by the tack area box thingy in the super posh lorry but a broom to his backside soon got him in!
we were having a lesson with sorrel warrick. went out onto the xc course and i was slightly dubious to start with as the last time we went xc was at bath and west in october when he went lame 3 from home!
sorrel was really good, started us of over some nice post and rail fences and then got us going over some bigger and more techinical stuff.
i was soooo pleased with my boy, he was doing some really tiny skinnies and some rather sizable fences and didnt bat an eyelid at anything!! we rarely get to go xc schooling but we normally have some sort of 'whoppsie' at some point but he was foot perfect today!
i have to start thinking more forward esp to skinnies as i can get a bit backward, normally not so bad in competition as we are always thinking forward but definitaly something to work on!
we finished of having a play in the amazing water complex and i think water is turning into one of buster favorite fances, when i first got him he hated it, but today he was loving it we did little jumps in the water, steps the really steep slope in and then did the log/step jump a few times and he proceeded to fly of that and splash round in the water!!
im more relaxed about tweseldown now and definatly think we will be ready for the novice at somerley!!
bring on march!!
sorry, very self indulgent
but im soooo pleased with buster!!
cookies if u got this far!
