XC schooling South/East/Anglia

Hi,
Im at Blackwater but that is shut until the horse trials. I think Burnham market is also shut prior the their event.

There is Brampton Equestrian in Brampton (norfolk) but this isnt a course but a schooling venue (a large field with jumps in it) and no water complex.

What about poplar park?

Waresley is closed until next week as its very wet at the mo.

MK's is 3 hours away :(

Boo to the weather :0/

Carlton or Keysoe (Saw on FB that they had top field and water open and plenty of portables out - that could have changed mind you?) There is also Coursers Farm near London Colney, never been there and its probably even further for you but you can't fault me for trying! (not sure where you are exactly!)

Reckon we might have to head to Keysoe...

We are about 30 mins south of Bury St Eds so miiiiles from most places. Never heard of London Colney *heads off to Google*

I was desperately trying to find somewhere local to school (I am Newmarket based) for this coming weekend as I am entered up for Grt Witchingham. Anyway, I couldn't find anywhere so have opted to have a SJ lesson instead and hope for the best!

If I had my own transport I would have looked further afield, but can't really do more than 1hr away in the borrowed transport.

Ely may or may not be open, but horse schooled there a few weeks ago and doesn't really need to repeat the same place.

I used to have the luxury of living hacking distance from Littleton Manor and a short drive from Tweseldown, so never struggled to go schooling!!

Poplar is waterlogged and closed for schooling.
Stratford Hills is also waterlogged and wont be open for 2 weeks.

re: stratford Hills, I've booked in for the Colne valley riding club fun ride on 24th march, am having serious doubts over going. There's more rain forecast and going in hired lorry which we really don't want to get stuck (never been with a horse so guess parking is on grass?). If Stratford Hills is closed for 2 weeks I'm assuming the ride's off (we're not jumping though). Am going to give it to sunday night before deciding.

I was at Herringswell today SJing and the ground on the XC looked perfect - however it is only really open for clinics and approved instructors, so sadly can't go. Frustrating as it is hacking distance from me!!!

Just a thought Mrussell - if you could find an approved pro to come to herringswell then I would be very very interested in joining in with 2 horses this weekend. Ground there looks absolutely spot on...

Ely's def. open, as Al is taking Team Reggie there tomorrow...

(as an aside, she's just started read Chester's blog properly, and nearly killed herself laughing over his latest entry- if him and Reg ever met it would only lead to disaster and destruction!)

The weather certainly ruins it!

I schooled at Stratford Hills on 2/03 and going was good but think were v lucky by the sounds of it. My friend did a xc clinic at Poplar last weekend and she said she's never seen it so bad, one horse in her group slipped and went down in walk it was that slippery! Hopefully we will have a dry week as got a hunter trial on the 24th but can't see them running it if it stays this wet!

He might not be the most competitive horse in the world (think "cricket scores R Us") by BY GOLLY he's a fun horse to be around ! Love him to pieces, the wee eejit !

I think that Boundary Farm will be very, very slippy, if it is open at all. I would never
go there when it is this wet.

I agree that last weekend the going at Poplar Park was awful, I have never seen so
many of the approaches so deep, and I've been riding there off and of for 20 years. I was not surprised that the PC ODE was cancelled. I was plucking up the courage to
take my boy to do the 75cm HT on Good Friday, and was hoping to get a schooling
session in before then. But it does not look like it is going to stop raining anytime soon :-(

Apparently they are fully booked from 10am until 5pm. I have asked to be added to a waitlist (only a 15min ride for me to get there, so I could literally turn up on last minute warning)

I think they should put on a 9am session for us - I can bring 2 horses (+ an extra rider) simples!!
