Does anyone know of XC training venues in south wales. I have been to Alps court, and I know Stockland lovell but by the time I cross the border with cost of lorry diesel it will be quite expensive. not looking for anything fancy as horse baby and quite spooky so much have starter jumps. Thanks

I'm assuming you're Cardiff based?
There's Ynysymond in Swansea - just off J45 M4. The course there is nice and well-maintained, and they're always adding new jumps. There are plenty of baby jumps too and the water has walk-in or jump-in options. A few different sized ditches too etc.
Swansea Riding Club have an XC course that's very well suited to novice horses and riders. Over the summer they usually have schooling days and lessons once a month which are open to non-members. They also run an ODE towards the end of summer.
Chepstow usually open for XC schooling for a day after their unaff ODE at the end of September. The ODE is running next weekend so you might want to contact them about the schooling if you need to go urgently.
Ace Cross Country are in Hereford (J1 M50). I've never been there but have heard good things about the course.

Further west there's Celaeron that's in Aberaeon but for that distance you'd be better off going to Pontispool in Somerset.

Not -quite- a proper XC course but Beacons Equestrian in Ammanford run Arena Eventing once a month and they usually leave the course up for a week or so afterwards so you can book to go and school/ride around the jumps. They have the benefit of being on a surface (so open all winter) and most of the arena eventing jumps are height adjustable.
