Just wondering what people have been paying for X-rays plus sedation? For a pup around 16kg
I would imagine more sedation is used the bigger they are

I paid £270 for a 32 kg Gsd for sedation and x rays for hip and elbows in June .

It will depend on vet's preference, any health concerns with the animal, amount of restraint required and the level of compliance the dog has. A few of mine have a lay flat/dead dog command so lateral views can be done without restraint.

Vet care is relatively cheaper in Ireland. Same ortho op priced at refferal centre in Ireland vs Liverpool was €2.5k vs £5.5k...and the Irish surgeon taught the one in Liverpool.....

Yikes. The vet who did mine has now left the practice, he was excellent. Other local vets have taken advantage of this to hike their costs but the most expensive I have heard is £550.

I've just paid £420 yesterday for hip x-rays. - that was for my GSD.
We also got loxicom lus injection and gabapentin within that so about £380 for the x-rays. - I've got copies of 7 xrays.

I think its strange too. When mine had her hips and pelvis x-rayed the vet pulled the pictures up to show me. Gave me copies when I asked for them too. I would be seriously annoyed.

No not normal at all . I’ve always been shown x rays and if requested given a copy

Very annoyed but I’ve messaged another vet and they’re gonna request medial history and give me the X-rays..don’t understand what the big deal was.
Tried for 10 minutes for a copy and then asked just to see them and was denied everything

I believe that's not legal - after all, you have paid for them. I would escalate that as far as you have to.

I got a referral done and got the X-rays
Possibly a soft tissue or muscle injury as X-rays seem clear but on a different pain killer to hopefully see that work
If pain killer doesn’t work could indicate bigger problem

Strange that you had to jump through hoops to get your own dog's X-rays, but glad you finally got them, and that maybe it is "only" a soft tissue or muscle injury.
Fingers crossed for that the change of pain killer helps.

I’d much prefer the muscle one as we suspected elbow dysplasia but luckily no signs!

Has she been constantly lame or is it intermittent? I don't know if it's a problem with dobes but with a GSD of that age showing lameness my first thought would be panosteitis.

The X-rays were never needed she had a soft spot on her paw pad
Paid for X-rays for no reason and they never called me back when their specialist was supposed to look at X-rays
Some vets really are a waste of time

Better to drive the 45 minutes every time to this good vet. Was there 5 minutes and he noticed the paw

The times I have thought I had a dog with elbow problems to find a paw issue. Just to say you are not alone. I’m glad it was ok.
