I've had my horse xray due to being sore after a foot abscess. Vet A said his Pedal Osstits has got a lot worse and nothing else going on in the foot. And for him to be shod with Equipack and egg bar shoes!! I wasnt happy with this so I seek a second opion which Im so glad I did as it turns out it's sidebone and that his Pedal Ossetits is very mild and shouldnt be causing any lameness noh should he be in egg bar shoes!!! And for a horse his age has got good joints.

Now after another vet vist today from a differnt banch as Vet A which also comfirl it's sidebone he is book in to have xrays on both feet. Vet A didnt compare his first xrays from 5 years ago to this ones.

Now does anyone know where I stand re Vet A bill?? I have imform Vet A that I've seek a second opion and wasnt happy about it!!

Pimms and cookies for thoso's who got this far xx

If the pedal osteitis is clearly no worse, and the sidebone is obvious, and Vet B will write you a letter telling you so (or repeat it and give you permission to quote him) then I would write a polite letter to Vet A explaining why you do not feel that it would be justifiable to pay his bill. PM me and I'll help you word it.

Everyone is entitled to a difference of opinion. Everyone is also entitled to make the odd mistake, being human. If this is a difference of opinion, you need to pay up. If this is clearly a mistake and the true diagnosis is indisputable on balance of probabilities, you do not need to pay Vet A's bill.

And well done you, for trusting your instincts!

Thank you. Vet b is going to get all of Beau case history as I would like the other xrays compared to eachother and see if any difference there. Im not happy that Ive been putting on eggbar shoes for nothing onlt to aggatie sp?? the sidebone!! And the cost of them too!! 5year's of wearing eggbar shoes!!

I should listern to my guts when I wasnt sure about using this practive again as Ive already had a misdiagonios a couple of year's ago when Beau came down with a abscess in hind foot vet said tendon injury and wouldnt even take shoe off etc so I had to get my farrier to do it and pus came staight out!! I did complain over this as another vet had to came out the next day and then laugh it off!!! Grrhh!!

Now we're are on the right path to getting him sound!!!
