I'm planning a big fencing session to subdivide 10 acre paddocks - can't afford stud rails/post & rail but I don't really like the 'temporary' effect of 40mm electric tape. All the posts will be permanent creosoted wooden ones - is it possible to buy electric tape which is about the same width as a rail or is 40mm the widest available? Also years ago I went to a yard which had rubber post & 'rail' fencing and when it was first done it looked quite smart and just needed tightening up occasionally when it stretched. It was a very safe form of fencing because if the horses ran into it the rubber flexed. Does anyone know if this is a product which available?

We have fenced 14 acres with permanent posts and the electro rope. It is easier to tension. Have never had any problems with it. In the past we used the tape but found it made very odd noises in the wind and also wasnt easy to tension so flapped about a bit.

I used wooden tanalised posts, electric rope, insulators on the posts & proper connectors when I did my paddocks. I could tension the rope easily & the wind doesn't blow it about & make it look scruffy. Using the correct connectors is a must, that way you always get a good connection because you never do with knotted joints. It's not worth runing the job just to save a few pounds on connectors.

When you've erected the fencing correctly it looks like a permanent fence & is tidy.
