Hi all

I was wondering if you could give me your opinions.

I moved onto my current yard when I was 17 with my younger sister. My parents were non-horsey, but very much present when it came to rule discussions etc. They have also, I will admit, been signing the cheques.

Due to a job offer, it is likely my parents will be moving abroad. Nothing is certain yet, however, as we're still waiting on confirmation.

I'm now 22, and she is 19. We are still on current yard, and parents still sign cheques. As far as I'm aware the Y/O likes us - she held my box for free when I lost my horse last year and was hunting for a new one. We certainly try to stay out of trouble.

I was thinking today, even though we're both officially adults, would you as a Y/O like to be informed of this change of situation? It won't affect anything, really, as it's entirely us who do the horses and parents are not just abandoning us financially. For the y/o the only real difference will be a different name on the cheques, and a different face in the driver's seat of the lorry when we pass through the drive.

Would you want to be told now, or should I wait until it is certain? Or is it really nothing to worry about/to be mentioned in passing when it happens?

Thanks for all advice!

You are both legally adults. Your YO might like to know of changes in your life from the persepective of a freind - but unless you are chatting on that sort of level I don't think you need to mention it at all.
