in june i moved to yard 1, indoor n outdoor, xc, big stables (although not well maintained, some leak) and good hacking, can do as i please pretty much in summer however they now have to come in at night (probaly until at least march), ive just found out that assistance with turn out etc won't be available this year, although i could manage it would be a pain, and i am concerned that as yard is along country roads if the snow gets bad i wont be able to get up there , £32 a week including hay

i have the opportunity to move to a slightly closer yard, no indoor, but has a newly built outdoor, nice stables, good hacking, holds shows over the summer and allows all year turnout so only have to go to yard once a day (or there is onsite assistance) £25 diy or £40 hay/bedding etc included

would it be too much of moving my horse again? he is settled in yard 1 but tbh he has settled on any yard he has been at. i've moved him last year in oct to a dif yard, then this year in june to yard 1, would it be fair to move again?

I'd go for yard 2. All year turnout is a big bonus, plus if you work full time and the yard is closer so you're spending less time travelling it makes such a difference, especially when you're tired at the end of a long day!

i go to uni, but it is an hours travel there and back everytime im in, and some days im in 10-5 so would be much easier, just dont want to upset my horse with another move. this wil be his third yard move in a year due to various reasons, he isn't a stressy horse but it cant be nice for them

yeah, this is my argument for yard 1, although it isn't that big at least would give me somewhere to have a potter about..am torn on this one!

Whilst I would absolutely love an indoor school, not having one won't prevent you from riding. Yard 2 would be my choice. By the time you paid petrol to get to yard 1 you will end up paying more than yard 2. Plus all the extra time you should find to ride.

If your horse has settled well after previous moves, he should be fine, you're his constant so if he sees lots more of you he may be happier.

this is true, two trips to the yard will be expensive petrol wise, and i share car so would have to get up at 6am to go do horse to have car back in time, going for another look round yard 2 tomorrow to get a feel of the place, any other opinions?

just got back from a look round yard 2, no arena as advertised, just a grass paddock and may have to be in some time during winter (although not as much as yard 1) but are building outdoor and indoor next year

now even more confused what to do, it would be £25 a week + pay own hay and bedding as and when needed, so not sure if it would be cheaper? and means i wouldnt really be able to ride over winter? but with yard 1 i may not have time to ride as much due to sorting out the stables? stresss

Is there no one else at the yard that could share the chores with you so that you can stay at yard one and only go there once a day?

that could be a possibility but the girl i was going to share jobs with has just left as had a few other liveries so there isnt very many of us left now, and a few others normally have assisted DIY which have stopped so im not sure how they are planning on managing either
