Does anyone have a theory as to whether yards are broken into more at this time of the year? I always seem to hear of more thefts around this time. (Just a random question).

I am not sure about the timing although thinking about it, the nights are darker and longer, also weather is windy so noises muffled.
I have had two attempted burglaries. One was one summer night and the other mid December.
Another suspicious one which I suspect was lining us up for theft was three lads in a car reversing into the yard right up to what was obviously the tack room, and that was midday!

Run up to Christmas - people are looking for easy cash
Nights are longer and darker
People are going home from yards earlier
The worse the weather is the better the thieving toe rags like it.

That was my theory. Not many people seemed to agree with me though!

People also have their rugs in stables (and on horses) - which make easy pickings!
