Yard/Country Boots - do we expect too much?

I wear mine out in a season, so I don't do expensive yard boots anymore.
I get a pair of WW long boots in Sept, and they go in the bin by about April.
That said, either I was less hard on them, or they have improved them, because they are not in bad nick at all!

I have the conistons that I wear with tiny little skirts, knee high socks and a vest top/cardigan combo for work/non horsey stuff. Put them over jeans for horsey/non riding occasions and then with breeches and spurs on top for daily riding/teaching. They are a little over heating on hot days but all in all the most versatile boots ever! People at work call them my sexy boots and people horsey see how practical they are! I hope they last for ever and ever amen!!

I trash footwear!! When I buy a pair of boots I'm happy if I get 6 months out of them! The longest lasting ones I bought were Ariat, hardwearing and very comfy and 10 months use!! I am cruel to mine in the fact I never feed or polish them either!!

No we dont expect too much from our boots its just most are poorly made to maximise profits for branded names and I would have too say most people dont look after their boots as they possibly should but the boots should be more resiliently made back to Profits! most Country style boots are little more than fashion boots approximately 700 hours use at best. Also False claims about being waterproof Fully waterproof inner linings that barly extend to the ankle and arent waterproof (Dublin River Boots)6 pairs returned so far, 3 pairs of Welliigog Sloane Boots that leaked 2 pairs straight out of the box 1 pair of Toggi hamilton Boots leaked after 3 months I think they come out of the same factory as the Welligogs Rydale Malhams cheap and cheerfull not claimed wterproof and the sole fall off them. only Dubarry and Le Chameau seem better made but not always as so many H&H people will testify.
I was brought up that you bought the best BED & THE BEST BOOTS you could afford as if you wernt in one you should be in the other.

Horse pee (and droppings) are not a friend of leather boots. Give them a wipe with a damp cloth each day to help extend their life.

I wear Dubarry boots as they keep my feet warm and dry in winter and cool in summer. They don't last as long as I'd like them to though - I get through a pair in little over a year but that's wearing them every day for most of the day. I find that the sole comes away and the leather cracks across the front of the boot. I do take care of them - hose them off before leaving the yard and I spray them with a leather protector when they are new and use dubbin or tack conditioner on them regularly.

I tried a pair of Ariat Windermeres as they are cheaper but I find them a real hassle to get on - the inner lining keeps rucking up and for that reason I won't get another pair.
