I am have a slight dilemma :-) the place I am at is not suitable any more
Which yard would you choose?

Yard 1

Gorgeous, quiet loction, only 6 liveries on site
Lovely hacking, either road work or countryside
Only out with three others (1 mare, two geldings)
Hay, shavings on site
Furthest away from home
School lights are rubbish, no jumps
Never really allowed to use the school, wice a week max
Have to pussy foot around owners and if you put a foot wrong get told off
£100 pcm

Yard 2

Slightly busier yard, around 20 in total
Would go out with a friends horse so just the two of them
Small arena school, with loads of jumps
Field with dressage arena and jumps, famers fields to have a canter around
Lovely hacking, either road work or countryside
Hay and shavings bought in for whole yard
Horse walker
10 minute drive from house
I would be filling a livery space and doing DIY, if a livery came I could get asked to leave
£120 pcm

Yard 3

Again, busier yard around 20 horses as well, just mares and geldings seperate so herds of around 10
Small arena school which you have to pay a £1 for lights, with loads of jumps
Hacking isnt great, busy roads and only one place to go
Yard buy hay and shavings in from certain supplier
10 minute driver away
Cheapest yard at £90 pcm
No set yard rules

Yard 4

Busiest yard of around 60 horses, competition yard
Large arena, full set of show jumps, cross country course, hold shows on sight, lunge arena
fully qualified instructor on site
Herds of around 5-6, fields a 10-15 minute walk
Hay included in DIY livery at £140 pcm
10 minute drive away
hacking is awful

:D

None would suit me!!!

But if i had to choose (without knowing what you need, and whether you choose to school or hack etc)....
Yard 1 - lack of school would concern me / lights etc, and stating having to pussy foot even before you get there!!!
yard 2 - Sounds better but you would have to leave?? Surely then only postponing your problem :S
yard 3 - I would not like herds of 10, on how many acres?! Hacking on roads would be no go for us.
yard 4 - Best of a not perfect bunch IMO, fields a 10-15 min walk though would be a massive problem for us!!!

As said, without knowing your needs its hard to say!!

I need some where DIY, that has facilities to school, lunge, jump, hack and get him fit again as I am now only hacking at weekends which isn't great and I wanted to take him to competitions this winter but its unfair on him due to his fitness!

I just want a nice friendly yard where I can enjoy my horse and not get moaned at as soon as I walk on the premisses, not to much going on as he doesn't do well for this he prefers a quiet place as it keeps him chilled

I would go for yard 4, you can always ride to/from the fields. As for the hacking you can hack round the XC course.

If it wasnt for the fact that you may get asked to leave I would chose yard 2, but knowing that I could be asked to leave at anytime would put me off. It just isnt worth the hassle and trying to find a nice yard isnt easy.

For the above reason I would chose yard 3, but I dont hack very often and I prefer small yards..
The facilities at yard 4 sound nice but with there being so many horses you may find yourself fighting to get into the school and im assuming the facilities would be unavailable when there is a competition.

I really want to move to yard 2 as it has everything I need, just the uncertainness puts me off quite a lot, otherwise I would move him this weekend

I think yard 4 will be to busy for him he gets a bit stressy when he see others moving about, and yes you have to book the school in advance and hire out the cross country and show jumping arena so you cant just ride in them, as for not using the facilities while a show is one that's fine as I would be doing the show.

I think it is yard 3, apparently the herds are split in 2 lots of 5 geldings and the same for the mares but to be honest my boy would go anywhere with food and he is so friendly, I'm getting a lorry so can take him out in the lorry and go to the woods etc
