I guess the distance of your yard from your house is likely to be an issue too, compared to someone having a yard at the bottom of the garden.

Hi - not sure if you have already seen it but if not have a look at the BigGDS site - http://www.biggsd.com/ There are links to lots of GSD rescues and also a forum for people interested in GSD rescue - perhaps would be worth putting a message on that or speaking to John who is the admin for the site and very sensible and seeing if they know which rescues would let a dog go to a yard. Seems like it would be a great life for a lot of dogs. Good luck with your search.
