For a project, I have three fashion questions.

Q1: what would you wear to go to the yard for a chill day (eg jack wills jogging bottoms)

Q2: what would you wear to go riding for a lesson (eg beige jods).

Q3: What would you wear for an early morning before show (eg onesie).
(Whole outfit for all of them)
Thanks-Don't know where to put this so putting here.

Q1 Dark jods, yard boots, T shirt, fleece and down jacket at this time of year.
Q2 Dark jods, yard boots until just before my lesson, then jod boots and gaiters, t shirt, fleece and down jacket at this time of year.
Q3 White or beige jods depending on jumping or showing class, whatever trackie pants come to hand over the top, shirt with fleece over the top and down jacket at this time of year, yard boots. Just before class whip off trackie pants, fleece and yard boots, put on jod boots, gaiters, tie or stock and jacket.

You get the theme? Fashion???? We are riders! :-) Where to find them? Any tack shop and the trackie pants and fleece in any cheap sports shop. Sorry, don't do designer for riding.

Hahahaha thanks! Its just for a project;) I'm happy wearing baseball cap and earmuffs in winter! I'm more bothered about having more cash than fash tbh;) thanks cowpony x

At this time of year an essential part of my attire includes a hot water bottle shoved in the waistband of my jods and suitably roomy hoody and puffa jacket over the top, I may look heavily pregnant but it's still the best base layer there is! It's also practical - I take hot water bottle and jacket off to ride and wrap jacket round hot water bottle so it's nice and warm to put back on after, then use the (by now) warm (rather than hot) water to wipe down sweaty bits of horse.

Q1: tights under a pair of breeches, with some super toasty long socks. A thin long sleeved top as a base (usually sports bra too! :D), tucked into tights (doesn't stay in if tucked into breeches), and a jumper, I hate hoods under jackets so it'll be hooded, probably high neck as I hate scarves when riding too. Waterproof coat over the too (on the fashion theme the jacket would very fitted, blousons don't flatter a pear shape!) and then some gloves. Have fleece lined muckboots or will wear normal shoes and change into Wellies.

Q2: Err... never actually had a proper riding lesson slow this is theoretical, but again socks & breeches, Polo shirt & coat if cold. And long riding boots as I prefer them to short boots and chaps.

Q3: I'd wear my show clothes under a pair of leggings (usually a cheap pair from Sports Direct) and a jumper.

Ax

I wear jogs, polo shirt , jumper and gillet for everyday, dark colors but co ordinated. I have fur lined boots for yard work at the moment, wellies when wet.

For a lesson as above but colors to match my horses bandages and saddlecloth, leather boots, gloves and spurs. Would also wear the same to teach.

Competing.. White breeches, blingy belt, show host, stock and pin, white gloves, best boots, then either my pikeur jacket in navy or my tailcoat, depending on test level.
I have a top hat for the tailcoat but have just bought the Charles owen hat to wear instead.
I put jeans and a jumper over the top to keep clean.

If I hunt I wear tweed jacket, skull cap, beige breeches and brown gloves.
All my breeches are full seat.. Hate anything else.

You've seen the price of JW stuff, yes? Why would one let that near a horse???

I wear jods, base layer, polo shirt, fleece and jacket for everything in the winter, plus wellies or riding boots.

To compete I have beige breeches, stock and shirt, over which I will wear (cheap!) Jogging bottoms and fleece until it's time to mount.

General and lessons are pretty much the same, other than days I am not planning to ride I will wear sweats/jeans and days I do ride I wear jods.

General/lesson wear is - polo shirt, jods, hoodie and depending on weather, coat. Boots and chaps and hat. If not riding then sweats or skinny jeans

Shows - white breeches, show shirt, show jacket, tall boots, hat. If it's very local, casual, I'll swap the show shirt and jacket for a smart clean polo and coat.

this time of year yard clothes are purely functional and far from smart or making a fashion statement - as many layers as needed - they are usually acquired from charity shops rather than branded goods as they do get damaged quickly.

Lesson (or riding generally) wear breeches and boots - I'd guess both are now so old as to be Vintage!! rest depends upon weather and what we are doing, usually various tops plus waistcoat/gilet.

Morning of show usually show-attire minus boots and jacket which are put on just before going in covered with a boilersuit. Ridden show attire is quite prescriptive for natives so fashion wise it's a question of cut rather than style. In-hand wear is an opportunity to be a little more colourful and flamboyant (Welsh showing); the main fashion-y pointers here are colours to suit the horse, cut of trousers and waistcoat, footwear you can run like the wind in!

Hope that helps your project.

Q1. We need to cross a fast road so the unofficial uniform is workman's hi viz jackets, fleece, dark muddy jods and neoprene wellies or country boots.
Q2. Smarter clean jods, polo or fleece depending on weather, riding boots ( ariats bromonts)
Q3. Waterproof trousers over the top, hi viz jackets though I generally change to a ski jacket before I leave.
Function over style for me.

1. I've got a couple of earwarmer headbands & co-ordinate scarves/snood, HKM long length coat if very cold (if less cold, then either my Rydale wax jacket or Joules, Musto or Mark Todd coat) Thermal leggings underneath breeches or jeans, long sleeved base layer followed by whichever fleece top/sweatshirt/gilet I happen to be wearing, Sealskin gloves & either country boots or neoprene wellingtons. I've got fluffy boot liners for my country boots, but only need a normal pair of socks for my neoprene wellingtons as they are toasty :)

2. I tend to swap my wellingtons/country boots for short boots & chaps. If I'm having an online lesson, I may well keep my long length coat on - if I'm riding, then one of my shorter jackets. I still wear gloves/scarf if cold & obviously substitute my earwarmers for my riding hat :)

I don't compete, so can't answer Q.3.

Erm, I missed the 'fashion' boat a very long time ago, but I'll answer the questions.

Q1. Dark jeans of the cheap and cheerful high street variety, New Look, Primark, etc etc. Tops, jumpers etc all from the same places and muckboots. A jacket, normally a Mark Todd blouson type.

Q2. As above, but swap out jeans for jods, I have a variety of makes, all cheap, normally I opt for dark colours.

Q3. As above with shirt and jods covered up with either jeans or trackies.

Q1 - A ski suit, or ski trousers and my Sherwood forest 'mud' jacket (the grotty one) wooly hat (H'ware Ireland) with peak, ski gloves - if very cold. Wellies, any make jeans, fleece jumper no particular brand, thermal undies if only a bit chilly. Snow boots or walking boots or wellies (wellies are Sherwood Forest) depending on ground conditions.
Q2 - Tend not to have lessons in winter, but would wear jeans (I ride western), same any brand fleece top, down filled old Toggi jacket, and best and favourite cowboy boots - Durangos.
Q3 - Wear my show outfit under baggy joggers (no brand name) - and any old jumper to keep outfit clean. Wellies/trainers pre show.

OMG! I probably look like a tramp, have ancient pairs of jods ( cue a Loveson pair that are about 20 years old, I kid you not!!), tracky bottoms, a assortment of jumpers/tops/t -shirts, a Musto coat which I got in Derby House sale about 4 years ago which I love and a number of gillets, fashion plate I am not!

this time of year I live in Ariat winter tights-failing that, crag hoppers winter trousers or bog standard jeans and full chaps. I wear my Swanndri jacket if not raining or MH coat if it is

Q2: what would you wear to go riding for a lesson (eg beige jods).

clean breeches and boots (I have a vast collection of breeches but only own brown boots), whatever top goes with them. I have loads of fleeces from MH to Horze, Tesco etc

Q3: What would you wear for an early morning before show (eg onesie).
(Whole outfit for all of them)

not that I show anymore but overalls over show gear

1. Anything from the charity shop. Jeans or combats, yard boots or wellies and whatever top is appropriate for the temperature ... Anything from tee shirt to quilted jacket (but still from Oxfam)

2. Clean jods, long boots (cleaned for the occasion) and top appropriate to weather.

3. Full monty show gear including tie but with yard boots (I ride a highland so do collar and tie with tweed, not stock etc) completely covered to the chin by a heavy duty boiler suit bought from a car maintenance place. Shed the boiler suit when we get to the show and add jacket, hat, gloves and clean long boots.

Don't do fashion at all. I have friends who buy, and wear, Joules/Tottie etc to wear at the yard, but not me. Anything cheap, practical and easy to clean is fine.

Ok

Q1. It would depend on the weather and whether I was planning to ride. Jodhs if I am riding jeans if not.

Q2. Jodhs, long boots (mark todd), gloves, and a polo or a long sleeve top depending upon weather. I might add a gilet or a coat if it is cold or wet. I wouldn't wear beige jodhs but would make sure I am colour coordinated.

Q3. I wear my show jodhs and shirt with joggers and a rugby shirt over the top and some muckers or short boots. I would add a coat and/or gilet if cold or wet.

The only people who can carry off a onsie are under five years of age.

Or we wear them when we will never EVER be seen by another living soul.

I like to look reasonably smart when riding. However, with thermals, thick breeches and various other layers, the only "look" I am currently sporting is that of a scary Michelin man....I also wear a ski mask. Not much of a catch at the moment!

Q1: what would you wear to go to the yard for a chill day (eg jack wills jogging bottoms)
Breeches, tee shirt, sweatshirt and coat. Wellies, but change to short boots and chaps to ride.

Q2: what would you wear to go riding for a lesson (eg beige jods).
Breeches, tee shirt, sweatshirt, coat, short boots and chaps.

Q3: What would you wear for an early morning before show.
Show breeches, show shirt and stock (easier to tie it at home) with full chaps over the top and a sweatshirt.

1. At the moment - Muck Boots, joggers, heat holder or fluffy socks, hoody or fleece, jacket or gilet, gloves, wooly hat and neck warmer if cold. In summer - short boots, joggers, t shirt, light jumper if needed.

2. Dark coloured jods, top to match horse's saddle cloth and boots/ bandages, jacket or gilet if required, skull cap + silk and gloves.

3. Joggers and jumper over shirt and jods, yard boots. Change into long boots and jacket just before getting on.

1.
Winter (in this order!) - ski socks, ski thermal trousers, jeans, ski socks, country boots. Sports bra, ski thermal top, tshirt/polo shirt, hoodie, gilet. I might add waterproof trousers and a ski jacket if it's bucketing it down with rain. Plus gloves.
Summer - Sports leggings or breeches and thin socks, short yard boots. Tshirt or polo shirt on top.

2.
Breeches, contrasting top (i.e. dark breeches, light top and vice versa), clean long boots, and gloves. If it's cold I'll put a fleece and/or gilet over the top too.

3.
White breeches under jeans or joggers with a normal t shirt on top and short yard boots. Change into shirt, stock, jacket, and long boots just before I get on - I'm the original mud magnet so this gives me the best chance of staying tidy ;).

Q1: what would you wear to go to the yard for a chill day (eg jack wills jogging bottoms)

Skinny jeans of the primark sort. ;) and a top + hoodie normal Rock boots or if summer I may be naughty and wear trainers. If I am feeling really stylish then trackies with long socks over the top.

Q2: what would you wear to go riding for a lesson (eg beige jods).

Erm.. a clean pair of jods, a hoodie and a t-shirt, simple riding boots and gloves with many holes in them.

Q3: What would you wear for an early morning before show (eg onesie).

Trackies of the primark sort ;) over jods and baggy hoodie over shirt , again rock boots or trainers, normal stylish socks with many holes in them.

I wear dark breeches for everyday, always full seat. Sometimes wear jean if I am popping up to do evening stables. If below 0 then I wear long sleeve M&S heatgen top, thin fleece (musto or uniqlo usually, I find cheap fleeces make me too hot even if thin) and a padded gilet, bamboo socks and heatgen socks and MH Forrest Highlander boots. Pikeur fleece/knitted headband as I have an ear problem and thin, but fluffy canadian liner gloves. Summer - Vest, Shorts, Bamboo socks and walking boots (only put breeches on when just about to ride)

Lessons: Dark breeches, long sleeve t-shirt in winter, possibly gilet to start, but normally off after 10mins. Summer Vest on top. Always long boots (mark todd) casco mistrall hat and ariat tech grip gloves

I tend to change at a show so would probably wear answer 1 with jeans then change into beige breeches. My comp shirt is navy though so will wear that under layers in winter, in summer I would wear a vest as get too hot though.
