Our drains are blocked from torrential rain washing mud down into the Yard so we are flooded.
Such a pain in the bum, one of my horses lives in during the day but can't bring him in and can't get the drains to clear.

Spent all day trying to clear them today with no luck :(

Poor you, it looks quite grim. Which part of the country are you in?
I hope you can get the water shifted somehow and fast. More wet is forecast at the end of the week, I think too.

What a nightmare, no advice from me, just sympathy ! But it does look a lovely yard under the water, hope you get it sorted soon x

Blyme that's a lot of water. poor you, what a nightmare that must be. I will not try to complain again about the mud we've got, it's not that bad!

Complain away kikke. Thanks everyone it is a nice yard. it's not too bad at the minute as nothing has been damaged it is annoying having all the feed bags and all manner of things out of the cupboards jumbled on the shelves in the tack room.

I'm in North Devon on Exmoor, we are forcast a lot of rain but have a 'squirrel' type thing on the end of a diesel pressure washer about 10meters down the drain to bash away at the blockage but had to stop today as we lost the light.

How did you get rid of your flooding babymare?

Thanks for the sympathy everyone I'm sending it right back for those having weather/mud/winter issues :)

Geez not good i hope you can get it cleared soon.
Do your drains go into a main drain or a lagoon?

It's a right old jumble as the farm is in all over 1000 years old so all sorts of different drains and pipes everywhere and we have a little river that actually runs underneath our drive so we don't know if the drains connect into somewhere giving us loads of joins and corners in the pipework.

I'd love to just call in dyno rod but the landlord wont have it.

Absolute nightmare! Good luck in clearing the blockage hun.

I know how you feel - our yard and fields were flooded on Christmas Eve. Water in the stables was chest high, horses had to be led out through it and into a borrowed vineyard with make do fencing. Lost over £200 of feed, plus straw and a couple of big bales of haylage. We now have about 40 rugs that are in desperate need of cleaning as they're still wet and stink of sewage! Lost lots of little bits and pieces, luckily no life lost though - one pony was stranded whilst the fire brigade spent 3 hours trying to rescue her (and succeeded!). All 25 horses now scattered in borrowed fields, tack is drying out in the hope it's not destroyed, feed has been replaced and beds relaid, but it looks like we're going under again tonight :(

Was not a very happy christmas and new year...

Hmm will stop feeling sorry for myself with slightly soggy fields, least the stables are dry, which is just as well as I think my two will be confined to barracks for the next couple of days. They were really unhappy out there today. It's only taken me six years to turn my hardy (hails from Shetland) Shetland into a wimp! Aided by the geriatric who wrote the book on being a wimp! :D

*UPDATE*

Well after days and days of the yard being out of use and trying to unblock the drains my wonderful husband finally did it! I sadly missed the water draining away a I was clearning mud from the gateways but he said it was very satisfying and swirled down like a huge sink!

I've had to have my big lad in the garden during the day to keep up the amount of hay he's having and its been the only bit of hard standing I've had!
It's a huge secure garden so it's not been so bad and I've enjoyed watching him through the Windows munching away but I'm so glad to have him back in his comfy stable. He was very happy too..

Here's some pics if it works.....

Just after it drained, we had to clear so much mud!

After my husband finished with the pressure washer. I was beaming! http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=21772&d=1389119212

And here's one of me sneaking pringle carrots at the front door :D
