I'm thinking of looking into getting someone to help with mucking out and general yard duties (not riding) 3 horses a day all year 7 days a week on a very small private yard.

I thought that I'd be looking at a couple of hours day - is that reasonable? I currently only have the two and the mucking out and yard stuff takes me about an hour in the winter. I was also wondering what peoples experiences were, how they went about finding reliable people and how much I can expect to pay.

Thanks x

Just a thought but it might be the 7 day week that would cause a problem , that is one hell of a commitment to a job (I know we all do it for our own horses) but could you get two people to job share , one weekends one weekdays or something that way you would be better of if holidays or sickness needed covering

If I was in your area I would love that job too, it doesn't sound unreasonable.

I guess on the front of getting someone reliable word of mouth is the best way to find someone, then you know who you are getting

I used to do a job like that Monday-Friday. Wouldn't have wanted to do 7 days either! It was two hours to make it worthwile. Would clean tack, clean lorry, poo pick etc to make up the time. I got paid £8 per hour and it was just down the road- which it had to be really to make it worth it with fuel etc. I would recommend advertising at tack shops/ local competition centres. Sure someone would snap your hand off.
