yard legislation??

Does anyone know if there are any requirements for a yard owner to have either health and safety certificates/rules or public liabilty insurance. Its not a registered yard just a small holding with diy liveries.

I don't think there is any legislation for an unregistered yard however to run one without public liability insurance is not a very good idea as the owner could be bankrupted should anyone have a successful claim against them.

You have to have public liability insurance, yes. No certificates that I am aware of and I believe only have to have health and safety checks if you employ someone.

I'm registered with the Health and Safety and open to annual check because I am a registered limited company so I have a public liability cover as well as our other business which is licenced by the council and open to there inspection and to be honest I think all proper livery yards should do this if they care about there horses. We are open to any inspection even from vet and we've passed ever single time with flying colours so in my eyes every horses is worth it and so are there owners.
