Don't you just get sick of yard politics sometimes? All the stirring and back stabbing going on at the yard where I am is starting to get on my nerves!
Also I'm sick of all the using thats going on plus in my opinion if people can't look after and afford their horses they shouldn't have them.
I can see the really lovely dedicated teenager (who was riding my pony) losing her loan because of all of this and being pressured into loaning something unsuitable just so one of the other 'precious darlings' has someone suitable to ride with.
Where did all the nice people go?
Ok rant over

Is anyone at a yard where everyone always gets on and there is no b**ching? I doubt such a place even exists.

I am

but there is only me and YO. We dont bitch but we do chat about other people we know.

No. Bitching is not allowed on the yard, if anything starts then I stamp on it straight away. However, being mostly women we recognise that at certain times we may get a little tetchy and there are a couple of ladies who you cant even look at on certain mornings, but we accept that. Sometimes its better to go about your work quietly rather than put yourself in the position of throwing a strop. If any issues do arise, we all discuss it there and then so that nothing festers. We have had a couple of bad apples in the past which quite honestly ruin it for everyone else. I always say that we have horses for pleasure and we all need that special 'me' time. We can get hassle at home and work, but we dont need it at the yard which is, after all our escape

Luckily its just me and my two horses at home. No liveries and it is bliss. I used to be on a big yard. It wasnt too bitchy in the part I was in (all the full liveries) but the DIY part was awful. So much bitching. It may have been because it was full of teenage girls though.

on our yard it's the teenage (and just under teenage) girls that get on the best

there's 7 of us, and we have far less 'disagreements' then the adults...

yep small little yard, Im lucky if I ever see more than 2 other people up there... but then there only is 5 other people to see... all adults aswell which I think helps!

TBH most of the problems are caused by two of the teenage girls parents believing everything that comes out of their daughters mouths and everyone else knowing what evil manipulative little cows the two teenagers are

Am sitting here at work waiting until everyone else has gone home, I'm so sick of it all and just don't want to get involved.

We have loads of bitching.....more like full blown rants but thats usually between my son and me!! There is only us, his girlfriend and the YO and she definately puts us all in our place!! Wouldn't have it any other way!

I am on a small yard and most of the time it is very peaceful. Even if we disagree about something I think we are mature enough to talk it through. Even if we talk about somebody who doesn't happen to be there it isn't nasty

I've been on yards in the past that have been awful for bitching etc. The yard i am on now though is lovely, people are friendly but to be honest after previous experiences on other yard i tend to try and keep my distance a bit, just get on with doing my own - but i am still polite and friendly to everyone else. I'm actually looking forward to our yard christmas do this week!

Yes! I am lucky enough to be at a very friendly place, with no b*tching or unpleasantness, even though there are 20+ horses there. But then it isn't a standard livery yard - it's a stud/training yard with only full/schooling liveries.

I have to say, I think a lot of this is about how a yard is managed, though. Our YO is a BHSI and BE-Accredited trainer - very experienced, very sensible, very kind, great fun - and everyone respects and trusts her.

Of course there's always bitching but so long as you get really good at it and everyone's nice to each other's face the yard is a nice place to be. That is these teenagers' problem, they have not had enough practice, in a few years time they'll know how to bitch without it getting them into problems!

We've been lucky so far - all our liveries are lovely and they regularly socialise together - I'm sure we will not always be so lucky though but I do try get people on the yard who I think will fit in...

When we have the new yard with an additional 15+ people we're bound to get some persoanlity clashes but for now it's not too bad!

Luckily the yard I am at now is fantastic...no bitching or back-stabbing...but I have been at some where it was awful.
I have seen two women in their late 40's throwing buckets at each other during an argument!!! Astonishing!!!

It's why I prefer to keep my horse at home with just one friend. The horse scene here is incredibly bitchy. It's a small community where everyone knows everyone else and although outwardly friendly, they can't wait to slate each other behind their backs.
I work on the principal that if people bitch to me about others, what do they say about me behind my back? unfortunately, it means I choose to keep out of local equestrian events as I don't want to be part of that culture.

I used to work on a livery yard and the politics were the reason I left. They all wanted to know what the other was paying, who had what service, who fed what, who did this, who knew the YO better..... Exhausting!
