So i'm new to horse and hound but need to ask for advice. I'm 15 and getting a horse sometime this summer! :D From being 5 we had horses but when my mum and dad split up we couldn't afford it anymore. At the time I had my pony on loan from some people at the yard and I used to ride with their daughters. When we left the yard we left owing two weeks debt (£50) that we couldn't pay at the time. My dad has recently gotten a new job and we can afford a horse again! yey! I have started lessons to get back into things and then we'll get a horse. The only yard within a reasonable distance with good facilities that isn't extortionate in price is my old yard. At the time the owners of my old pony weren't very happy with us having to give Rhia back at no notice. It is a pretty big yard but I'm bound to run into them at some point :( what should I say to them? It will be mainly me looking after the new horse in a morning and afternoon and if i'm in the same barn as them it will be very awkward. Just to say that we have now paid the yard back so they are fine with us returning (we have visited to look around again:D)

I think I would ask the YO to speak to them and hope that they have got over it. By the time you get a new horse etc time will have passed, but you should put your brave boots on and go see them early on, I woulld just apologise, they presumably know why you had to give up. Bad things happen.

Good advice from Bonkers - worrying and trying to avoid them will make your time their anxious - be brave and apologise, it was out of your control and you should not be made to feel bad as you could not afford to continue at that time and you were a child - kill them with kindness and hold your head up - and hope you find a great horse!

Yay for getting your horse!

When the last pony had to go you were really just a child and had no say in anything. Do not feel bad, there was nothing you could do. You are no way to blame.

Go up to the yard and I am guessing people will be glad your life is turning round and you will be rejoining them. If not, then they are not worth knowing imo!
