Heads up for those with horses in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge area..
My yard was ransacked last night and my three horses were let out. Nothing stolen at first view. Very odd always check before I go to bed and all quiet. Went to bed early though
Is it still half term? Kids? Firework parties?
Do I report it to the police?

I would. Are you sure they haven't stolen anything? Something with value you rarely use?

Have you annoyed anyone lately? Can't think why someone would do that and to steal anything, is it the school holidays though?

ruth83,lol
that's what I first thought when I found them by the swimming pool this morning :o
However they opened three five bar gates with head collars fastened round them, three stable doors including kick bolts and internal chains!
Rugs, first aid kit, bandages etc thrown all thrown across the yard, wheelbarrows upside down in the middle of the beds. Horses hadn't finished their hay or drunk their water so I guess it happened after I went to bed at 10pm :(
We live on a quiet country lane with a few elderly couples as neighbours up the hill but our house and fields back on to two families with five kids between them all age between 15- 8yrs. Hence my first thought is it still half term, could they have been out playing after 10pm?

I would also be asking the families if they heard anything, just watch the kids reaction, a friend of mine had a lock up yard, local kids 8-10yrs old visited on more than one occasion, terrorised the horses and kids pony, killed the chickens and ducks and locked the goat in a shed, one of the little darlings left a coat with their name in it and that's how they were traced

I would do as others have said report to police & have a quiet word with family to see if they saw anything - If it was these children it could be a 1 off - but maybe think about CCTV around yard as a deterrent x

This happened at our yard in Gloucestershire in the summer. Horses were all out in the field. When I got to yard early in the morning the stable doors were all wide open the padlock had been unscrewed from the tack room door . All cupboards and draws in the tack room wide open . But nothing stolen . We reported it to the Police .You should definitely report this.

Yes, report it.
we have had a couple of break ins like this. The police were fairly sure the thieves were looking for item specifics, as other yards nearby also done, and slightly further afield, equipment and drugs were stolen.
They may want to come and look for finger prints, too.

If the first aid kit was strewn about it could well have been bored teenagers looking for horse meds to use as recreactional drugs. Def report and get a cctv system installed asap
