our YO is very laid back! its a very child and dog friendly yard. the only major ones i can think of is the muck heap needs to be built properly and if you borrow some one elses equipment e.g broom, feed scoop but it back where you got it from! things tend to go missing... but other than that our yard is only small and we all tidy up after ourselves. theres the obvious keep gate shuts, no smoking, dont leave objects that will causes injuries laying around etc but thats really just common sense around horses
No haynets to be left out
No feedbuckets to be left out
No unauthorised persons allowed on property
No horse to be left unattended
Gate to be locked if on your own and not near containers
No child under 14 years of age allowed on premises without an adult
All horses must be on teh worming program
All horse owners to do their share of poo picking
Basically all common sense things that should be done anyway.
I don't think we have any rules, can't think of any anyway. We all respect the place and each otherand it see ms to run itself. There are 8 of us with 11 horses/ponies between us.
I move about between 3 different yards (due to uni
) and none of them have any unusual rules. They all allow children and dogs.
Yard 1 only has 3 rules (children's yard)
- no music without headphones
- no chewing gum
- no smoking
Yard 2:
- don't lead mares past the stallion's stable
- no hay on the muck heap
- push your muck right to the top of the muck heap
- no smoking
Yard 3
- keep your bit of the yard vaguely tidy
- bring the last horse in with you
- lock tackroom when you leave
- don't allow your horse to dig or roll in the indoor school (nice surface)
- no smoking
