Well - I have a dilemma, 4 spare stables, loads of grazing and now, only one horse!

OH is convinced that we should find one owner to share the yard (and some of the work!!!), liveries seem to involve hassle from the people I have spoken to.

Are we barking up the wrong tree? I had sort of decided to get another horse to keep my chap company, but sharing seems a good idea (maybe)....

go for it, it can work really well, just make sure you find the right person to share with you, cos there is nothing worse than dreading going to see the horse in case x is there

We rent a yard in total, 4 stables and 12 acres. We pay the same if one horse there or four, so when we went down to two horses we got someone in to sub-let the other two, it worked really well as we also helped eachother out when needed. It helps if you already know someone suitable!?

I share a yard and field with one person( buddy). and it works really well.
We will take it in turns looking after them, she does mornings as I work early and if she doesn't want to go up evenings then I do them.
We share the feeding and really look after each other (she does far more than me)

Don't know what I'd do without her honestly( she's a mate in a million)

Sounds ideal for someone!

We used to do something similar when I still lived at home with my parents. We had stables and paddocks but only 1 pony. We rented out the other stables to a family and we took it in turns to do each others horses. I did every morning and they did every evening and we covered for holidays etc. As it was our home we chose carefully and never had any problems.

Try it.....and hope it works well for you! Wish I could do something like it again.
