I keep my horse on a lovely yard and get on well with the YM but today i am very upset!!!

My horse is on part loan and today her loaner went to the yard only to find she couldn't ride her! The YM has a neurotic TB that is kept in our paddock and it wont stay in the stable - so YM said today my loaner couldnt ride my horse as her TB would be alone and would trash the fence and hurt itself. I had a very upset loaner and I am very upset as what if this happens 5 days in a row - can I not exercise my horse?

How do I handle this?!!!!

You go to your yard manager and speak to them, politely but firmly. The TB is not your responsibility, or your sharers, and your YM needs to sort out a situation whereby she can control the TB without hindering any of her livery clients.

Talk to your YM. Today may have been an exception. Do not presume anything until you have spoken to all concerned and have all the facts. I'm sure if she is normally fine then this is a one off incident.
If you can't resolve your problem then you will have to tell her you will be looking for somewhere else.
Good luck

I would ask for my horse to be moved into a different field. The end of the day its not your fault her horse is a bit of a fruit loop

. Why should you have to not do things with your horse just so hers has company?? If she wants your horse as a field companion to hers then she should not charge you livery lol

Its not the first time!!! I had hoped the first time would be the isolated incident but now I am worried my loaner might tell me she doesnt want to bother if this is the hassel she gets when she's driven 30mins to the yard!!! Problem is I like the YM but I am worried she'll chuck me off the yard if I pipe up.

Wow id be fuming..
Whats she going to do if you change yards because she wont let your sharer ride the horse!!
if the YM was there she should have brought in her horse while your sharer rode and if that wont work for her then she needs to get herself a companion that can stay with hers 24:7 .... sounds like your going to have to have a quiet word with her and point out its rediculous for you to be paying to keep a horse your not allowed to use...

I'd speak to the YM, at the end of the day you pay money to do what you want with your horse, when you want. You shouldn't have to be working around her. Shes got the horse with the problem its her responsibility to fix it.

Agree with the above - you pay to stable your horse there not to keep her horse company!
If you get on well just have a chat with her and see what you can do. As people suggested above you may just need to come to an agreement so you can ride when you want to and her horse doesn't get upset. Would the horse settle with some extra hay in the field?

Good luck! Hope it goes well.
