Sorry for the double posting but thought there might be some people in here who dont venture into new lounge! Plus im nearly off the page already

Hello all!
I was wondering if anyone could recommend me yards in this area. I have googled and am aware of most of the big ones (Church Farm, Blewbury, TRB Clayton - would love to hear any experiences of these) but I just wanted to see if anyone knows of any others? Im struggling to find anything below £40 DIY with nothing included. Is it possible to find anything cheaper? My current yard is £25 p/w including straw but has no facilities to the point there isn't even lights which as i work 9-6 even mucking out in winter will become impossible never mind riding! So I figured now was the time to start looking.

There seems to be loads of lovely yards the other side of oxford in Wantage etc but due to living in central oxford and working in Wallingford I dont really want to much more time/petrol to my journeys! I am currently stabled just outside stadhampton.

Any help would be much appreciated i have no knowledge of the horsey scene in this area and Im only at my current yard as it was where I had previously had my share horse

thanks!

Not between Wallingford & Oxford, but what about Alden Equicentre at Upton (near Didcot) - http://www.aldenequicentre.com/ I don't know much about DIY there but I keep my horse with Joss Gray who's yard is on the same complex so I can advise you on the facilities (and the incredibly hacking!). If you want any more info just PM me. In the same area there's Silverdown Stables...don't know if it's DIY though?

There's a yard in Stadhampton (not sure if DIY, but definitely part livery)...has an indoor school but when I looked earlier this year it was full. There are a few DIY yards near Garsington too and I think there's a DIY yard opposite Waterstock Dressage (which only does Part/Full livery) in Waterstock. Have you tried the Balden's at all? I was told there was a yard in one of them (not Toot Balden but the other one I think)...never looked around it though.

I have to admit, I found the area rather sparse of livery yards when I first moved here (I live near j6 of M40 and used to work in Oxford, but now work on Milton Park). I was looking for full livery though so just thought I was being fussy, but actually I just think there isn't that much! Like you said, loads near Wantage and also quite a few North of Oxford, but not much in our area!

Have you tried Lucy Clives yard in Stadhampton? I think it's around £38.50 a week DIY and it has an outdoor school and an indoor school and lights!
I 've never stabled there but it has been recomended to me.
Like you say theres not much available here.

Lucy Clives yard at Satdhapton is nice. If your looking for full livery then Waterstock is great. There are two DIY yards - one in Toot Baldon and one in Marsh Baldon. Also lots of super little yards around Islip, Mercot and Fencot.... Good luck, hope you find what your looking for. If you need any numbers PM me.

Thanks for all the information guys!
I think Lucy Clives is probably my first choice in terms of location although I think I would probaly have to go on a wait list, then again i do have a couple of months untill the dark evenings.
Alden also looks lovely so will probably go look around there. I work on the same estate as hunts feed place and i noticed there were a few notices up there but most of them are more Reading way.

It just seems a real lack of anything this side of oxford! I think I need to do some maths as it seems like going part livery a bit further out could also be an option. Or maybe i need to find a new job/house ;)

Do you know what that one is called? I might already have it on my list I have one or two in Abingdon

People just call it Bensons but not sure of it's real name.
Just seen an ad in Hunts for a woman offering livery in Cholsey.
Was told she is next to Downland Kennels so hacking will be on ridgeway.
Sounds like a small yard.

I'm able to give feedback on Blewbury - personally, I think there are much better places out there.

I would also recommend Alden Farm, I recently did work experience with Joss Gray who is based up there, and also got to know the livery yards. They have a lovely big manege, and excellent hacking facilities. Not quite in the right place for you, but it is lovely!

This is an old thread (??) but for the sake of it, Grove Farm Equestrian near Didcot is a good yard, grass livery, assisted DIY part & full. Great facilities and lovely staff.
