Hi I was just wondering if anybody knew of any good livery yards in Essex?
Am looking around the Chelmsford area if possible.
Need spaces for three ponies under 13.2hh.
Full livery, decent size school with good surface.
Safe accessible hacking.
All year turnout.
Hot shower, lorry parking and dogs allowed would be preferable if poss. lol.

Not asking for much ;)

If anybody has any ideas I'd be grateful.
Also, any opinions or experiences on Hill Farm Equestrian Centre, Westwood Livery or South Hill Farm??
Thanks.

I shall be watching this thread with interest.
I am relocating to Chelmsford/Witham in next few months (from Northampton) and will be looking for somewhere for my horse.
All year round turnout, DIY with assisstance when necessary, hacking and possibly of the dog being welcome.

Oldashthearab, around Witham, Marvens do DIY livery.

Ok, another couple added to the list... Buckhatch Eq. Centre, Brazils Farm...
Any opinions appreciated. Thanks all.

How about Norton heath EC, They have full livery, all year TO, indoor/outdoor schools, shows, hacking etc. A bit more pricey than some others, but worth it for all the facilities.

I know of others in Chelmsford, but not with hot showers! :D

Haha, we're expecting to compromise on the hot shower thing.
The preferable points aren't essential, but if you don't ask and all that... :p

Lol,, I guess you do have to ask! :D

I often suggest to people to buy a copy of the Essex rider, as in the back they have ads for liveries, and it gives you some idea of whats about. There is a lovely place offering full livery in Danbury, Chelmsford. But I can't think of the name. I know they advertise in the Essex rider. Worth getting a copy to have a look.

There is also a lovely yard in little Baddow. But when I enquired they said they don't allow anyone to jump over 2'6  because of the horses legs or something.

Thanks Sarah, been a while but i still planning on moving. Haven't forgotten the advice you gave me when i asked before!
Shall get a copy of Essex rider (but where from)!!
Yard in Little Baddow may suit me (depending on where it is/where i end up living). Ash is semi-retired and doesnt jump anymore anyway!

Yes, going to pop into Ingatestone tomorrow, look on the boards and pick up some local magazines.
Oldashthearab, if you'd like, I can send you one in the post if you PM me your address??

I shall watch this one as I am possibly going to uni near chelmsford in september. Any one know of any DIY livery with all year round turn out and preferably a school? or grass livery? and any idea of prices so I can start budgeting.

thanks I want to consider what I'm going to do with the pony before I accept any offers as he will be coming with me after the first term. Can I get a copy of essex rider in ingatstone? as I want to go there when we go to the post aplication open days

Try Sarah Fortt - Top Class Ponies - she is at Purleigh and has all what you are looking for. Not sure what vacancies she has at the moment. I have lessons with her and I sent Stinky to her as a baby for some fine tuning - only person I would trust with him and after three weeks he came back a very happy chap and totally relaxed. Her number is 07956 018729. If I were closer to her, I would move mine to her yard.

Thanks for all replies. Very interesting to hear opinions on each yard.
This is so hard. Brazils sounded perfect but they don't have enough spaces.
Other yards either aren't answering the phones, haven't got the correct numbers or are too expensive. The search continues.

What area of Chelmsford are you looking for i.e North/ South (not stalking you by the way :) )

How far would you be willing to travel?

Thanks BP, but am going to Chelmsford tomorrow for the weekend (boyf already lives there) so shall pick up a copy!

And keep all the recomendations/avoidance up.....its hard enough moving my boy who has lived in same yard for last 10yrs withough worrying i pick the wrong yard for him!

Any ideas on price of livery in the area too....all year round turnout/DIY etc?

I paid roughly £128 per month for DIY livery which included as much hay and straw as I needed, own 2 acre paddock AY T/O (shared by two horses if you don't have two, then another persons horse) Outdoor school, hacking and services if required (extra cost) There is a yard on Broomfield rd Chelmsford which has all year TO/own tackroom which is in the stable. Horse walker, outdoor school. That was £99 per month. But I didn't like the look of it as much as th eone I was at.

Worth looking around

It seems that most places just don't have three vacancies. :(
