Hiya!

After nearly coming to a conclusion over which yard to move to in Cardiff, all circumstances changed & my other half who was living there has now moved to Newport.

Currently now in the Coedkernew area (by Tredegar House) & my horse is up in Ponthir Cwmbran, so Im wanting to move him closer.

Any others close to this area appart from Bassaleg stables (the one with the lakes cant remember the name) & was also wondering if White Barn Farm did livery & what its like?

I know theres probably a few Marshfield way or along the Lighthouse road but I dont know of them. Basically after a few suggestions, contact numbers, facilities there & prices? Would like to have a look around over the weekend hopefully.

Preferably want all year turnout & a school of some description at very least - I can work around the rest really.

Thankyou for any help!

Hi :)

The Bassaleg one is Cwm Hedd. There's one opening up in Bassaleg, the ad is here: http://www.equineadverts.co.uk/-1/1...ffered/21615_Flatholm_Full_Livery_Yard.htmbut I don't know anything about it, I'm afraid. Where do you work? There are more towards Cardiff way if you work more towards the capital.

Ah thats the name, I knew it but for the life of me couldnt remember, my friend kept hers there for a while. I'll have a look at that link when I get home thanks - it keeps aborting on my work PC. I work in Cwmbran at the moment but will be moving job wise more Newport/Magor so easy to jump on the M4 then. Bassaleg & that area is only 2 miles up the road from where we are at the moment though so could be ideal. Was all set to go Cardiff way & look at yards suggested by yourself & others but then the other halfs friend he owned a house with decided to sell up so it went from there, typical! lol

I live in ponthir and used to keep my horse on brook farm livery in ponthir but am now in usk...hoping to move back to ponthir/caerleon area when I find somewhere..which yard you on? my friend has hers at white barn in rhiwderin - it seems nice there - 110 per month hay/haylage included I believe. do you know any small cheap ish yards around ponthir/cwmbran/caerleon area??

We are on a great yard, that is friendly and the owners live in the premises.

I'll send you the details by PM (don't like advertising where my babies are ;) )

Ah Brook Farm is 2 below where I am I think, I moved out to Tredunnock one winter but moved back to where I am now after 3 or 4 months. Im at Isca Livery Stables at the mo, but the costs & dire winter conditions looming again, Im once again on the hunt to move lol - will PM you about it.

Thankyou! Just read it will reply now :o

Waiting for call to be returned from Court Farm I think? Was on the board up the farm shop earlier, said 5 mins off Junction 24 M4 D.I.Y livery, indoor, outdoor, gallops, horse walker, cross country & all year grazing. Think its down around Llanwern area, bit far but maybe worth a nose I dont know.

hey i own a horse and was wondering if anyone knew about isca livery stables in ponthir! If anyone knows anything about it please can you let me know. thank you and please come back to me soon
thanks niki

Right then! Had a right trawl around a load of yards & have found one I want to go to BUT its in the Rhiwderin/Rudry/Bassaleg area.

I know from a friend who previously kept a horse at Cwm Hedd that they have trouble that way & in that area with gypsies skulking around, tack rooms being broken into etc not heard anything of horse thefts but still - dont like the sound of my baby being kept in an area where there is that risk.

Also now recently another yard in the area a friend of mine goes to for lessons has recently upgraded all their doors & got alarms, sensors, lights etc which has obviously been done for a reason.

I know theres been thefts Cwmbran way recently but been in the form of tractors, quads & diesel - obviously worth more than the horses at the moment.

The yard I have my eye on just has security lights nothing else & you have to take all saddlery home at night - yes a pain but for the facilities I could live with it, aslong as I knew thats as far as the problems go & the horses arent bothered. Everyone there seemed lovely & friendly, most importantly happy & the place has everything I want. The yard owner pointed out the security lights & said they do have people "coming down" so assume checking for stuff to steal.

Basically has anyone heard of anything going on in that area or is it mostly rumours/coincidence/people over reacting? Of course theres always isolated incidents but dont think I could deal with it on a regular basis, I worry too much!!
