As title really.

Am thinking of moving Amber for the winter as although I love my yard, its too far now really. Last winter it was on route to OH's office, so he would drop me off in the morning. This year we both work together (setting up new business) and the yard is much further away from where we are.

It might sound a bit picky, but I'd rather spend an extra hour with Amber, rather than spending that time on a round trip. If I have to go to the yard by public transport, it takes 2 hours just to get there- and that includes walking 4 miles.

So any suggestions would be fab. I'd prefer all year turnout, other than that I'm really not fussy.

Thanks,

H

there are quite a few stables/yards in basingstoke area...one good one is Church brooke yard but that is based in oakley which is on the outskirts of basingstoke...
Might be worth popping into Old Basing Saddlery...they have lots of choice on their notice board usually...I have sometimes put a post up and people have contacted me back...
good luck with it...

There's one just off the A30 on your side of Basingstoke but I can't remember the name of it. Nice old fashioned courtyard stable block with a XC course and arenas.

What facilities do you need and are you looking for DIY livery?

I'm looking for DIY preferably. If it had the option of assitance would be fab (ie feeding breakfasts and turning out on occasions). Although I have said for the winter, I'd be happy to stay longer term if the yard was right.

A school/lunging area would be great as Amber is currently unbacked and I would like to do some work with her over the winter. Off road hacking would be a bonus but not really essential.

Oh I'd also be willing to help out mornings or evenings for cheaper livery (I have this arrangement at current yard).

Um I cant think of anything else really.

Thanks for that, will have to pop over to put an Ad up.

I think Church Brooke might be too far. I currently have mine in Padworth and am looking for somewhere on the Hook side of Basingstoke if at all possibke.

Saying that, I'd consider anywhere that is on a bus route (without a 4 mile trek afterwards) if I can't find anywhere round that area.

That sounds great.

I'll have to ask OH if he can drive up and down the A30 and see if we can find anywhere that looks similar.

Come and live up here with me Hazel!

I keep my horse near oakley and i dont know of a yard with that name only park farm. There is a church brooke farm near tadley here is the link]http://www.churchbrookfarm.com/

I still can't remember the name of that place, but it isn't on the side of the A30, you have to come off before Hatch Warren (coming from the east) and then up a couple of lanes.

Anyway, I found this site which might help you; I notice there is one in Hartley Wintney.

Thank you joshesmum.

I know of the the one in Tadley, its not far from where I am now,so a bit far really. I think Oakley is easier for me to get too (need to consult my OH as he knows where all these places are- I'm useless)

Thanks Tia. Wow the one in Hartley Wintney sounds great. Will give them a call on Monday (dont like phoning on Sundays).

Church Brook is in Tadley, just on the outskirts of Baughurst. Miles away from Hook! I'm at Church Brook, it's nice but I think she's full now unless they build anymore stables.

There are loads in Basingstoke though but I don't know about Hook.

Thats the problem, most yards I've found are on the other side of Basingstoke.

I used to live in Tadley, hence having horses at Padworth, which was fine in summer as did alternate days with other liveries, but now winter is coming and I work further away, its getting hard work.

I'd rather spend more time with them than having to travel for ages each day.

Certainly worth going into Old Basing saddlery, they have quite a few advertised around the old basing area.
There is a working farm just off A30 that takes liveries, I don't know much about it though, run by a chap called Tom Stacey. I think he is pretty active in HH so they may give you his details.
Most of the yards that I know are to the south and west of Basingstoke

Wellington if you want to pay for the facilities etc, Rycroft's got an old fashioned stable block with Dove cote in the middle of it
